“Mama,” Jocelyn whispered as she moved to sit on her mother’s stomach and tried to pry open her eyes. “Yes?” “Up! Up!” Angie shook her head and sighed. “You tell me what time it is and I’ll get up.” Jocelyn whimpered and laid her head to her mother’s chest. “I hungry.” Chuckling, Angie wrapped her arms around her baby girl and planted a kiss against her forehead. “You sure know the right things to do and say to get me up,” Angie teased before taking a deep breath and finally deciding it was time to get up and do something.
Earlier that morning after making sure Adrian, Cass and Jesse had a little something in their bellies and seeing them out, Angie called PVH and told them she wasn’t coming in. See that was one of the many luxuries of being the boss. While most folks really didn’t have that choice, Angie did and also knew without a doubt her hospital would be taken care of. Anyway, after making that call Angie and Jocelyn crawled right back into bed and slept. Slept until just moments ago.
“Alright sweetheart. Let’s freshen up and go downstairs to eat something,” Angie suggested pulling herself up and later headed into the bathroom with Jocelyn on her heel.
Up until the moment Jocelyn slid off the sofa and raced out the room, she and her mother watched TV and ate. “Ari, honeybun what are you doing?” Angie called out as she walked out of the living room and went to search for her daughter. She was just heading to her office when Ari came out of nowhere with her sunglasses on upside. “Coooooooool!” Angie laughed and shook her head. “Let me guess you want to go outside and chill out?” She asked, though it was quite obvious that was what she wanted to do. “I go!” Ari cheered turning on the tips of her toes and making her way to the door. Angie shook her head and caught up with her road-runner of a daughter. “Oh no you don’t,” she scooped her up and started toward the stairs. “First we have to get out of these PJ’s and into some actual clothes. And then we can go out… Kay?” “I do it!” Ari yelped kicking her feet indicating she wanted to walk up the stairs by herself. “Okay, have at it,” Angie said with a shrug as she eased her down onto the step and let her go up one step at a time. She followed close behind just in case she lost her balance. It took a minute, but once they made it up Angie went about getting them both dressed. She dressed Jocelyn in cute short set and a pair of sandals. Afterward she dressed herself in a pair of jeans and cool t-shirt, as well as a pair of tennis just in case Ari decided to make her run. “Let’s get some water out the kitchen and we can go out.”

With everything down at the station moving at a slow pace Jesse thought it would be a good idea to head home for lunch. He knew his wife was home and figured it would be also nice to chill out with her and their baby girl. If she wasn’t napping. Though Jesse was going home to chill out with Angie he thought about bringing up the subject they hadn’t once mentioned. The Frankie and Madison thing. The night he told them they were together Angie hadn’t taken the news all that well and it was very evident she still wasn’t cool with it. She hadn’t once mentioned that night and when she came home from work she hadn’t mentioned anything about Franklin. Jesse thought that maybe she and their son talked and got everything out on the table. But it took getting a call from his son to find out that that had not been the case. Angie hadn’t even made an attempt to nip everything in the bud. From what Frankie told him they passed each other in the hall, talked medical crap and went about their business. “This has been going on for way too long. Let me talk with her and see what I can do.” Jesse had told his son before they switched subjects and started talking about basketball until he had to get back to work. That conversation had taken place the Thursday before.
“Give me strength.” He chuckled to himself as he pulled up to their house and spotted his girls sitting on the porch swing.
Jesse cut the engine and climbed out his truck and headed toward them. “Well I can definitely get use to this sight.” He called to them getting Ari’s attention. Jesse saw her smile grow as she her mother let her down and she rushed towards him. He met her at the steps because he still didn’t trust her going down. Going up wasn’t the problem but coming down he wasn’t so sure. “How’s my baby girl!” He exclaimed scooping her up and pulling her close to kiss her all over her face and playfully nibble on her little arms. “Daddy!” She squealed. Jesse kept playing as he went up the steps and went to sit next to his wife. When he pulled back Ari tried to tickle him. “Daddy isn’t ticklish baby girl.” “Humph!” Ari pouted and crossed her arms.
Jesse kissed her and then leaned over to kiss his wife. “How are my girls doing today?” He asked before giving Angela another kiss. This one a little longer than the last.

“Fruck!” Jocelyn yelped.
The first time Jocelyn said the word some time ago Angie and Jesse looked at her as if she had two heads. Once Angie recovered from the shock she turned to Jesse and opened her mouth to fuss at him about using such language around Jocelyn. She was now at the age where her mind was like a sponge and she picked up over every little thing that is said around her. Anyway, it wasn’t until Adrian tapped her shoulder and pointed to a passing truck did it hit her that her child was trying to say what it was and not saying a curse word. Angie remembered telling Jesse he was lucky because he was about to get a tongue lashing like no other… So now when Jocelyn said the word Angie didn’t freak out she just followed her eyes.
“I wonder who that could be,” Angie said, dropping her feet from the seat and looking out. She already knew it was Jesse. Jocelyn, who sat in her mother’s lap, turned around and gave her a look. Asking with her eyes who it was and the minute she heard her daddy’s voice you could have sold the child for a penny. She started squirming, trying to get down and get to him. Angie finally let her go. “Be careful,” she warned, watching Ari rush to Jesse and then him scooping her up and greeting her the way he usually did. Laughing at the pair, she curled her legs under her and waited for him to come over and when he did and joked about not being ticklish, she smirked. “Sure could have fooled me after last night,” she teased, giving him a knowing look.
“Hey baby,” Angie greeted, leaning over to kiss him. And then kissing him again. “Mhmm… Be careful,” she playfully warned cupping his cheek. “We’re doing pretty good. Somebody wanted to come outside for a bit and I said why not. It’s a beautiful day and we weren’t really doing anything else… So here we are,” she explained, running her fingers through her hair. “Ride, daddy! Ride!” Angie looked back up and sighed. “Honey, I’m sure your daddy only stopped by for a few minutes and then get back to work. Maybe later on when he gets home. When he has time to take your car out.” It wasn’t that Angie had a problem with her baby girl going for a ride on her little battery operated ride on car, that she gotten from her parents for her birthday, she wanted her to have the time of her life. But Angie didn’t want to take it out and then Ari not have a chance to thoroughly enjoy the toy because Jesse had to leave. Right, how come the toy had to go up after Jesse left… Angie wasn’t yet comfortable with handling both Ari and the car on her own. Jocelyn was a handful on her own as it was. Adding the car would just be asking for it. “I go ride,” she whined, getting ready to throw a temper tantrum. When it was evident that she wasn’t giving up Angie looked to her husband and gave him a knowing look. She was going to let him handle this.

Angie’s little joke about what happened the night before did not go missed. Jesse heard her and when their eyes met he gave her a warning look. He would take care of her later on. “Careful for what?” Jesse asked giving her a wink. “My little girl was about sick of being cooped up in that house. Ain’t that right daddy’s little angel!” He cooed holding her up and then pulling her down to give her a kiss. When Ari asked to go riding Jesse sat her on his lap and shrugged his shoulders. He was getting ready to tell her get ready when Angie spoke up and said he probably had to get back to work. He did have to get back to work but then again he really didn’t. He was the boss man and if he didn’t want to go back he didn’t have to go back.
“Let’s go for a ride. No biggie.” Jesse said before maneuvering Ari on his neck and slowly standing up. He turned back to his wife and gestured for her to come along. “Come on baby. While she rides we can walk and talk.. Plus there is something important I need to talk to you about.” He would be a fool to tell her what he wanted to say. He knew if he breathed one word that he wanted to talk to her about Frankie and Madison she would quickly shut him down and tell him to take Ari out by himself.
"Come on let's go get your car." He told Ari as he kissed her chubby leg and started down the steps soon after they were heading to the garage.

“You sure?” Angie asked, looking up at her husband. When he moved their baby girl to rest around his neck and stood up she got her answer. “Okey dokey… Well let me go in the house and get something. I’ll only be a minute,” she said, coming to her feet as well and turning to head inside only to hear Jesse say they need to talk about something.
Though wondering what about she gave him a smile and nodded. “O-Okay,” she mumbled and soon after watched as he descended the porch steps and head over to the garage. “Oh boy,” Angie sighed, going into the house. She had no idea what Jesse wanted or needed to talk with her about, but whatever it was had to be important otherwise he would have waited until later on in the evening when it was just the two of them.
After grabbing a couple bottle of waters and putting some crackers in a sandwich bag for Jocelyn, Angie grabbed her cell off the table, locked up and headed out where Jesse and Jocelyn were waiting for her. “Let’s ride,” she sang, putting the water in the small trunk of the car soon after following behind little miss missy who led the way. “She loves that thing.” Angie giggled watching as Jocelyn drove and occasionally waved at the people who were either passing by in their own big cars or sitting on the porch or doing lawn work. “Or maybe she loves being the center of attention… Yea I think that’s what it is.”
Moments passed and nothing had been said. “You know for somebody who wants to talk, you sure are a man of few words,” she half teased and half hinted.

Jesse smiled at their little girl and chuckled. “Loves being the center of attention.. I wonder where in the world she get that from.” He hinted throwing her a knowing look and pulling her hand to his lips.
All the while they walked Jesse tried to find a good way to approach this trying subject without getting on Angie’s bad side but nothing was coming to him. Because he knew no matter how he said it or what he said this would still ruffle her little feathers. Even if he told her this girl made their son happy and he saw that there was some love there Angie’s feelings would most likely stay the same. But that didn’t stop him for hoping and praying for something different. He wouldn’t be human if he didn’t.
“Right.” Jesse chuckled nervously when Angie broke thru his thoughts. “Beating around the bush has never really been my style so I’m just going to come right out and say it.” He came to conclusion that just putting everything out on table was a hell of a lot better than building it up. “I spoke with Franklin last week.” He told her as he looked over at her. “He told me you guys haven’t spoken since that night and well Angie he won’t say it but I could hear it in his voice that this was something that’s still affecting him. So I told him I would talk to you. Possibly nip all of this mess in the bud because if you ask me this is kind of silly for you to cut off all communication with him and it’s been going on for way too long.”

“Okay, I’m listening,” Angie said when Jesse started on this thing about him not liking to beat around the bush and what not. She nearly told him to tell her something she didn’t know, but she kept her mouth shut deciding to let him finish. And then when he mentioned he talked to Frankie she wished she hadn’t. “Jesse,” she sighed, rolling her eyes. She was in no way acting like that because of her son. No way in hell would she ever. What made her roll her eyes and sigh with disgust was the subject of this matter.
Just the mere mentioning of Frankie and before Jesse saying he didn’t beat around the bush was enough to let her know this was going to be about Frankie and Madison. And what she did and said, or didn’t say for that matter. “First of all I’m not cutting off all communications with my son. I don’t mind talking to or about my son at all. It’s his relationship with this woman I do not have a desire to talk about. And when he mentions her or that night to me I don’t want to hear it. And if I don’t want to hear it from him I certainly don’t want to hear it from you,” she hissed, dropping his hand and crossing her arms.
“And furthermore! It is not silly. I stand by what I said then and what I’m saying now. Frankie and Madison will never work. Why? Because… Well, look I’m not saying she would intentionally hurt him nor am I saying she wouldn’t, because well look at Henry. Right it was emotional pain she acted out on with him, but Jesse I refuse to sit back and watch this woman come into my sons life… The same woman who wrecked hell for him before, mind you, come into his life and build him up and then months down the road break his heart. Or worse... Do what she did to Henry. Jesse, I do not and will not accept this relationship. Not when I know… she can indeed hurt him. I can’t and I won’t.”
Angie snarled at Jesse before she threw her hands up and sped up to walk in front of a ridding Ari. She couldn’t believe Jesse tricked her! Here she thought that he was going to maybe say something about having to switch shifts for some reason at the station or maybe something about their upcoming vacation. Hell maybe even a case that was taking him out of town for a few days. She didn’t know how she could be so naive. Ugh! She thought.

“Oh I beg the differ Angela.” He told her when she said what was happening was not silly. Angie was going off at the mouth he bet his last dollar she hadn’t heard him and nor was she willing to listen to whatever else he had to say about the matter.
When she started off ahead of him he groaned and looked up to the heavens. He hoped Frankie knew this wasn’t going to be an easy job and therefore he was going to owe him big time. Scratching his chin he caught up with Angie and Ari and stopped directly in front of them. Ari stopped her car and looked up with wonder in her eyes.
“You know what. You are acting like somebody really familiar right now and to be honest it’s really scary.” He hissed tilting his head to the side. “Les Baxter ring a bell?” He asked watching her expression change and if you stared a bit closer you would also be able to see steam coming from her ears. He struck a nerve probably struck it too hard, but whatever he had to do to get her to see his point! “Yea exactly like him.”
“I’m worried about him just as much Angie but that boy you’re talking about is a grown ass man! Capable of making decisions of his own. Capable of deciding what and whose good and not good enough to be in his life.” He fussed. “You keep treating him like a kid, like somebody who can’t make up his own mind you’re going to push him away. Just like your father did to you.” He reminded. “But the difference between you and Frankie.. You push he’s going to get fed up and move away and take Madison with him. Then what Angela?”
He was about to walk away when he remembered something else. “Remember awhile back when we were in the Maldives and you mentioned how you wanted Frankie to be happy again after what happened with Randi. Wanted the best for him. Well Angie from what I’ve seen he is happy and call it crazy but he looks happier with Madison than he looked when he was with Randi. So to be honest I think our son has found the best. Right her past may not be squeaky clean but the key word in that is past. Angie everything she did back then she has did her best to correct them all. Did her best to not be defined for all her wrongs. So she has flaws but baby who doesn’t.”

Angie came to an abrupt stop when Jesse came in front of her. “Really? Who Jesse? Who am I acting like?” She asked crossing her arms over her chest and fixing him with a glare. When he mentioned the name that should not have been mentioned, the one person she shouldn’t have been compared to, Angie dropped her arms harshly to her side and gawked at her husband. Anger began to swell up in Angie’s body the more Jesse spoke. This would have been the time she would have come back, shut him down and put him in his place, but she feared if she opened her mouth she would definitely regret the words that would come them. When Jesse suddenly got fed up when trying to prove a point, she was sure, he turned to walk away but then turned around again and brought up a past conversation that made her look away. She knew what she said and she meant every word of it, but forgive her for thinking that Madison wasn’t the best for her son.
“Are you done?” Angie finally found the voice to ask. When he pulled back a bit and nodded, Angie gave him a firm nod of her own. “Good! So is this conversation,” she spat, bending over to grab her keys from the trunk of Jocelyn’s little car and putting them in her pocket. After pressing a kiss against her baby girls forehead, she came to her full height and pushed past Jesse without any parting words. She was so pissed off she couldn’t even stand the sight of Jesse Hubbard at the moment and she bet her career it would be like that for a couple of hours.
How dare he compare me to that evil man!? I am nothing like him! She thought, all but stomping a hole in the ground as she made her way back to the house where after grabbing her purse from near the door, went to her truck, checked behind her and soon pulled out. She didn’t know where she was headed at the moment, but any place was better than the house where she knew Jesse would be headed very soon to try and talk to her again.

“You have got to be kidding me.” Jesse groaned when Angie walked off and showed no signs of turning back around. “I’m not going after her.” He told Ari who turned around to see where her mommy had gone off to.
When her mommy didn’t turn around she did and looked up at her daddy. Jesse glanced down at her and sighed and started wondering if every one of the women his house had that look. That ‘you know you were wrong’ look. “I thought you wanted to ride.” He hinted turning and gesturing for her to follow him. Ari just continued to stare up at him and it was around this time Jesse turned back around and sighed. “So I’m wrong for being right and honest about what I said?” He asked.
“I’m not saying your mother is this evil woman who likes to see people hurt. No, she is nothing like that. But I just think she’s wrong for the way she’s acting about this whole thing and hey forgive me missy for not going after her and apologizing for not only voicing my opinion but also being right.” Jesse dropped his head and massaged him temples. “Here I am venting to my 2year old. I must look crazy right about now.” He muttered. “Daddy.” Ari simply said. Jesse met her eyes and that is when the stare down began. Something else his baby girl inherited from her mother was the ability to make him do something he didn’t want to do. “I can’t believe I’m.. You know what.. Fine!” Jesse huffed helping her turn around and soon headed back to the house. “Women sheesh! No.. Hubbard women.” He mumbled.
Soon they arrived back at the house only to see that the trip back to speak with Angie was pointless. She wasn’t even at home!
“Uh-oh!” Ari yelped covering her mouth and standing in the middle of the living room.
Jesse looked over his shoulder and stuck his tongue out. “Remember all of this was your idea not mine.”

By the time Angie pulled into the garage of her home it was going on one in the morning. She couldn’t remember the last time she stayed out into the night without her husband at her side. She also couldn’t remember the last time she held onto this type of anger concerning her husband and his mouth for this amount of time. Instead of choosing to go to anybody and vent because the last thing she wanted or needed was for anybody to agree with Jesse, she went for a walk around park. When that didn’t curb her anger she hopped back into her SUV and drove to the mall outside of Pine Valley and did a little retail therapy. What would usually be the cure to all of her problems only pushed it down just enough for her to pay attention to her weakness. Her weakness: Shoes! And clothing for her children. The last thing either Jocelyn or Adrian needed was more clothes and the last thing she needed was more shoes. Yet that thought didn’t stop her.
“I think I need to go to shoes anonymous,” Angie teased as she grabbed the bags from the trunk and soon made her way into the house. The house was quiet and somewhat dark. Using so she slid her shoes off at the door and tipped toed to her office where she set her bags down. It wasn’t that she was hiding them from him she just would rather no hear his mouth about her spending at the moment. Giggling at that thought, Angie tipped toed back out, set the alarm and went upstairs.
After checking in on Cass, Adrian and lastly Jocelyn, Angie made her way into the master bedroom where she just knew her husband would be sound asleep.

“Where have you been?” Jesse asked when Angie finally walked into the room. He’d been waiting up for her all night and was getting ready to grab his keys and go look for her when he heard the alarm chime downstairs.
In the beginning Jesse decided to give Angie some space and time to think. Figured at the time it was the best way to go. Give her time to think and calm down and give him time to figure out what he was going to say to her. Going back on what he said about her acting like Les wasn’t happening because he refused to take back the truth. As the hour grew later and later Jesse began to worry. When she hadn’t answered or returned any of his calls he became a little nervous, especially when he was hit with a flashback of where they had been last year. Then instead of worrying if she was going to come home, he and the rest of the family had been worried if she was ever going to wake up again.
“I was worried about you.” He told her getting out of the bed and walking over to her.

Angie’s hand flew to her chest as the sound of Jesse’s voice and the lights flooded the room. “Think next time you can find a different way of greeting me,” she scoffed, taking a minute or two to slow her racing heartbeat. “And I was out,” she later replied, making her way to her closet and walking in. “Taking care of some business.” Any other time Angie would have gladly told her husband where she’d been and what she’d been doing, but this wasn’t that time and she felt he didn’t need to know a damn thing.
She was removing her shirt when she heart Jesse’s voice get closer. “Really?” She asked turning to face him and propping her hands on her hips. “Your guys weren’t tailing me so obviously you weren’t too worried about me,” she hinted before pushing past him and going to the bathroom.

“Yes really. What kind of question is that?” Jesse asked when she turned to him. Hearing her accuse him of not worrying made him chuckle and shake his head. “Angela.” He groaned turning around and heading into the bathroom behind her.
“Don’t do that.” He warned staring her through the mirror. When she gave him a look he put his hands up asking her to let him rephrase what he just said. “I mean stop walking away from me and don’t accuse me of not worrying about you when you know d*mn well all I do is worry. Especially when you pull mess like this.”
Jesse pulled back and crossed his arms. No he didn’t have the guys tailing her this time but that’s only because he wanted to give her some space and because the last time he had one of them tailing her she found out and wasn’t to happy about it. Not only did she tear the guy a new one she came home and did the same to him. Asked him how he felt when he was being watched every minute. She only asked for some space, some privacy and after that he respected her wishes. Even now. “You know what.. I don’t wanna fight anymore. You’re home and you’re safe and sound. That’s all that matters.”

Angie was getting ready to brush her teeth when Jesse came in and gave her a warning. Knowing he couldn’t have been talking to her she flipped her eyes up and stared at him through the mirror with a questioning look. He caught on quick because he went on to rephrasing what he said and in the end she felt like crap. Mentally kicking herself in the behind for accusing Jesse of not carrying she sighed and dropped her eyes. That was definitely the wrong thing to say when like he said she knew damn well that’s all he ever did.
“Jesse,” she mumbled, reaching to the faucet off. “Jesse, I didn’t… I didn’t mean it,” she swore setting her toothbrush and toothpaste on the counter before facing him. Silence cloaked them as both of them looked away. Angie didn’t know what her husband was thinking, but she was thinking about how careless she’d been when she chose to stay out late. No doubt she was still pissed at Jesse for what he said earlier, but the last thing she wanted him to do was worry his bighead over whether she was lying some ditch dying or laid up in the hospital fighting for her life again. The last thing she wanted was for her kids to worry their little hearts over that.
The mark had been hit just a few days ago and Angie hadn’t really thought about it until she heard the nervousness in Jesse’s voice when he spoke. Angie was about to speak up when Jesse beat her to it and told her nothing else mattered now that she was home. “Jesse, I really didn’t mean what I said. I know you were worried and I…” Angie bit her tongue as she looked away.
