Laughing out loud at the china shop remark, Dixie gave Krystal a smile, that broadened hearing Nolan giggle. "Yeah well, when Kathy started with the cheerleading she was somersaulting and cartwheeling all over the house. Only vases I dared leave out were the ones Opal had given us." She smirked. "But once she got a little more practice she realized the gymnastics studio was preferable to the back hall for practicing. She's really gotten good. There's been meets I've taken her to and even a weekend retreat with her team awhile back. It keeps her occupied and it's something she enjoys. Even Tad's starting to accept it better, when she started out he wasn't exactly on board." Shifting a bit on the couch to give Nolan some room to stretch out, she answered the rest of Krystal's question. "As far as the twins...well, I know I've had to take a pom-pom away from Tara more than once. Nolan though..he's got a beanie basketball that you can hardly pry out of his hands. With J.R and Jamie it was never their thing but with him, down the line who knows?" Running her hand gently through Nolan's hair as he got snoozier on the couch, Dixie let out a sad sigh. "I just can't think about the day him and Tara start pre-school or kindergarten. It's hard enough leaving them at the daycare at PVH, and then my office is just a few doors down. With J.R..his first day was a lifetime ago so I kinda, blocked it out." The blond shrugged, glancing at Krystal. "Was it tough for you, when Jenny started school? Does it get any easier, or do I have first-time mom hysterics to worry about?" She asked, knowing Krystal was in the same situation as her, as far as age gaps with her kids.

Krystal laughed at the Opal comment. She had to admit she had gotten some strange gifts from Opal in her day too that she would not have been too sad to lose.
"I am not sure how I will break that to Tad then that both of his girls are interested in cheerleading!" Krystal kidded. "If I know him he will be none too excited about the outfits they have to wear."
"You know even though Jenny only goes half day the first day was heartbreaking. Watching her get on the bus for pre-k killed me. Although it only lasted for about an hour. As where with Babe I felt that sadness for about a week straight. So I guess for me it was different..but you have a few years to go." Krystal smiled down at the little boy beside her.

"Oh..ask Kathy about how I had to take her to get her skirt lengthened after Tad saw her in it for the first time. Luckily he wasn't the only concerned father in the group...I saw three other mothers doing the same thing at the tailor's." Dixie smirked, while Krystal smiled at Nolan. "Yeah I guess...of course they're gonna fly by. I know that all too well." She sighed. "So you know I was thinking, the weather's been so beautiful lately and, with summer coming up, maybe we oughta try and plan a, big family picnic or something at the park? We could invite Joe and Ruth, Opal..J.R and Marissa, A.J. Maybe even Jake and Amanda if they're interested. I know we used to do them all the time when the boys were younger and, they used to be pretty fun. And I want our girls and the twins to get acquainted with the tradition too. You know?" Dixie suggested, already getting a little excited about this.

"Oh gosh! I can imagine he was none too pleased to see his little girl in that little skirt!" Krystal chuckled.
"You know that sounds really great Dixie. It is getting warmer everyday and a picnic lunch for everyone would be great! I have not gotten around to stopping by to see AJ yet and I really want to do that soon..but all of the kids could play even Amanda and Jake's little boy. I know Jake and Tad will want to run around with them and Opal will want to catch up! I think this would be great! And Jenny would be so excited to go!"

"Oh good! I'm so glad you're on board." Dixie smiled. She was surprised though to hear Krystal hadn't gotten a chance to spend time with their grandson. "It's crazy though how fast A.J's growing up. One second he's being carried around everywhere still going by Little Adam and the next he's..dragging me all over the park." She chuckled weakly. Not only thinking about A.J but his dad now too. "He reminds me so much of J.R though. Lately I've been thinking so much about when he was little, when it was just..me and him and we lived in Pigeon Hollow. We were all eachother had, guess it explains why we're so close." Dixie said, her smile fading as she absentmindedly stroked Nolan's hair. "I don't know how you survived it Krystal. With Babe..I, if God forbid, with this cancer something happ..." Her voice breaking a bit she swallowed hard to keep it together. "I don't know what I'd do."

"Hey hey..come on now Dixie. You know how strong he is. You know you raised him to be the strongest man there is. And I know it too. I have watched him with Babe and AJ and I hear that he has been great to Marissa. You know how much he loves you and his family and he is not just going to give up. He is going to beat this." Krystal placed her hand on Dixie's carefully for support.
"Listen Babe..she could have survived too because she is..she was a fighter just like JR. But she had to save their son and even though it was the worst time in my entire life I am so glad that Babe did not have to lose her son and go through what I did. And I know you won't have to go through it either. JR is not going to give up." Krystal gave her a weak smile. She prayed she was right because she knew Dixie would be more than devastated. She would not wish that on her worst enemy.

Glancing up misty eyed when Krystal put her hand on her's, Dixie looked on hearing the rest of what she said. And knew that she was right. But until the cancer was behind J.R for good there was no way she could completely relax. Not until her boy was 100% well. "Thank you." She said sincerely, returning the smile as best she could. "You know I'm sorry I dumped all that on you..it's just, it's been on my mind a lot lately." She admitted with a shrug, but at least had pulled herself together somewhat. "Anyways..um, what else has been going on with you lately? I mean I heard through the grapevine you've been working with Jack as a paralegal and..you have the restaurant too? Must keep you pretty busy." Dixie observed, impressed though that Krystal was taking all that on. And here she thought part time at PVH and moonlighting at Stardust was pushing it in terms of workload, this seemed to be quite a bit especially for a single mother.

"No it is fine. I..I don't know how many people would tell you how many times Babe came up in a conversation. I think if it is botherin' you then you need to get it out." Krystal gave her a smile.
"Yeah..it does keep me pretty busy but Jack is so good givin' me the time I need and I have a great manager down at the restaurant. It isn't always a walk in the park but at least I can do things like this once in a while." Krystal nodded looking over at Jenny who was just having the best time with her sister. "What about you? I hear you are working over at the hospital. I had no idea you wanted to work there."

"Yeah, I mean you know that saying all work and no play. Any woman's gotta take a little time for herself once in awhile." Dixie chuckled, before Krystal mentioned PVH. "I..yes, I'm a patient advocate at PVH. I'd been one years ago and got so much out of it then." So much being a reunion with Tad but..that was another story for another time. "And, after everything that happened with me and Kate, I just wanted to keep people from feeling as helpless at a hospital as I felt then. Ironically though, the pancakes got in the way of what would've been my first day on the job. I'd planned on going in that morning, not as a patient." She weakly joked. "Luckily Joe didn't hold it against me that I was over a year late for my first shift."
