Erica was big! In fact, so big that she thought she would pop any day now. But, she still felt good... well enough to go out & visit Angela Hubbard, in fact. They had some catching up to do, & Erica had a few questions for the doctor, mostly pertaining to that horrible doctor who came back to town uninvited, with hopes to ruin everyone's relationships & shake the town up... as usual. She knew she should be used to it, but now she had babies as well as her grown children & she would do whatever she had to, to protect them.
So, when Erica got to Angie's door, she knocked gently, not wanting to wake up any sleeping children if there were any inside, but also loud enough to let Angie or Jesse know they had a visitor.

“Just one more box to move,” Angie sighed, walking over to grab it and move it to her office where the others were when suddenly she heard a knock at the door. Standing straight up she turned her head to try and see if she was hearing things. When the knock came again she went over and looked out the window. “Well now,” she chuckled. She knew her and Erica were due for a chat, but Angie hadn’t thought she was going to come out of the house in her state. If anything the woman should have been at home, relaxing and letting her come over instead. “Fankie?” Jocelyn asked, sliding off the sofa and coming up behind her. Angie looked down at her and smiled. “No not Frankie… But it is somebody special,” she told her, walking around her and going to answer. Jocelyn had all ran her down trying to get to the door. “I thought I was supposed to open the door?” Angie asked her, gently moving her to the side and pulling the door open. “Hey!” She greeted.
Jocelyn who’d been hiding behind the door poked her head out to the side and smiled. “Hi!” She gave her a wave. Angie shook her head. “She’s been in this cheery mood all day,” she told her best friend as she moved to the side to let her in and then soon gave her a hug. “What are you doing out of the house ma’am? The last thing you need to be doing in the state you are in now is being out alone and… driving at that,” she scolded, ushering her to the living room. “Sit down. I want you off your feet.”
“Would you like something to drink? Snack on? Eat? Talk to me.”

Erica looked at the little girl & waved back. "Hello sweetheart!" She then walked inside as Angie's inner healer came out, telling her she should be resting.
Erica couldn't help but laugh slightly at the thought of still being in bed. "I'm going crazy sitting around the house! Plus, I hear that moving around stimulates the baby & that's what I'm hoping for," the shorter brunette explained, sitting down as she pushed the small of her back forward so that it didn't hurt when she finally landed on the couch.
Looking up, Erica shook her head, "No, I'm alright, I promise... I do want you to talk to me, though... about the party. About what David meant when he was talking to you..." she said, eyeing her friend carefully, trying to read her reaction.

Angie cut her eyes at Erica and smiled. “It does help, you’re right. But you should not be out alone. And nothing you say will change my mind about that,” she hinted, making sure she was sitting comfortably before turning to go into the kitchen when she told her she was alright. Angie looked over her shoulder at her and gave her a shy smile, maybe she did overreact a little bit. But she was just looking out for her best friend.
“Okay,” Angie sighed just seconds before she heard her suggestion and then heard David’s name. She was shocked. Speechless! And she was willing to bet her last dime that it was written all over her face too. Why now, she asked herself as she stared at her friend. All this time she’d been able to keep everything to herself, why now was it she couldn’t?
Sighing, Angie looked toward Jocelyn was now occupied with the movie on the TV. “Erica… It’s… It’s nothing. Okay?” She chuckled nervously not even bothering to look her way because she was sure if she did the woman would have probably stared the truth out of her. Literally! “You know David. He’s just… He’s David, you know. Shoot, I get ticked off with him just hearing him say hello. You know?” She was rambling, she knew it, but she couldn’t help it.

Erica shook her head, catching Angie's eye briefly. "No... it's something else. David said that you don't know me like... like Jesse doesn't know you. But that's not true. You do know me, Angie. You do! Better than almost everyone else in this town! And the reason I didn't tell you about Josh was... was because I was so scared. I was scared David would take him away from me again," she explained, shaking her head.
She then looked at Angie, who still didn't look at her. "But Jesse... he does know you. You two have been through so much together. He does know you, & your kids know you, &... I know you. You're the best doctor in Pine Valley, a wonderful mother, & the love of Jesse's life," she stated, not letting David's words get the best of her. She'd never believe that man over her one of her closest friends. Never!

Angie nearly looked up and told Erica she should have just trusted her with the news about Josh. Trust her to keep David from hurting her or anybody else in her family when it hit her that she was keeping stuff to herself as well. It would have been very hypocritical to tell her to not keep secrets from her. Her best friend. “I know,” she said instead, crossing her arms. She was about to ask Erica just drop this whole thing when she said the very last thing she wanted to hear. “Don’t… Don’t say that,” Angie grumbled, shaking her head. “You think you know me, Erica. You think you have me all figured out, but you don’t. Not really. Just like… Jesse and my children,” she said softly, running her fingers through her hair. “It seems a lot of people have dropped me in this category labeled perfect… Qualifications? Does no wrong. Knows how to not let certain temptations run through their mind day in and day out. Know how to tell people like Hayward no and actually mean it. Oh! And my favorite, not have a single bad bone in their body.”
“Okay, I’m a good doctor, not the best. But I’m good. I love what I do and I will give the best care I can possibly give. I’m really no different from any other. I’m the love of Jesse’s life. I have no doubt in my mind about that. But that other one… Wonderful mother, it’s not true,” she said honestly finally looking toward her friend.
Massaging her temples, Angie moved over to the window where she looked out. “A wonderful mother?” She repeated with a smirk. “Not even close! A wonderful mother wouldn’t have given any thoughts of any kind into a deal that would undoubt-ly come back and bit her in the behind. Maybe not now, but it would later happen. A wonderful mother wouldn’t have had a dream about seeing the deal go through and then wake up in the middle of the night, dial the devils number and… and... Well she just wouldn’t have done that!” Though Angie had dialed David’s number, more times that she cared to count, she never once let that first ring finish. She always hung up the phone and set it on the counter before dropping her head and praying to God to give her more strength. Praying to God to not have her inherit the part of Les Baxter she desperately hated.
“What if I went along with David?” She asked, forgetting that she wasn’t by alone “Jesse and Frankie would be mad… Furious even, but in the end they’ll understand that I was only looking out for my boy. They’ll know that my intentions were good. Not sick, not twisted, not selfish,” she rambled.

Erica saw Angie begin to almost panic. "N-no one's perfect, Angie," she tried to console her friend, but as Angie kept talking, Erica realized the woman hadn't even heard what she just said. She looked at her carefully, listening & taking in every word Angie had to say, but she wasn't understanding. What in the world did David have over her? What did he do to her friend?
Erica got up, belly & all, & began to walk over to Angie, carefully laying a hand on her shoulder, as not to scare her, but to break her out of her trance-like state that she seemed to be stuck in. "Angie... Angie tell me what he did to you. I know I didn't come to you about Josh, but there's more to the story; more David didn't tell you or anyone else at that party. Please," she nearly begged, "trust me with your secret & I will tell you mine," Erica said softly, hoping that maybe if everything was in the open between them, that they could figure out a solution together.
It was obvious to Erica that whatever David had hanging over Angie's head was big. She didn't care, though, because she was going to help Angie & stop David's madness before he could do anymore damage to anyone she loved.

Angie slightly flinched when Erica touched her shoulder. She took her eyes away from the scene outside and looked at her. “David didn’t do anything to me… It’s what he said. What he offered.”
“This may not seem like much to a lot of people, but to me it is,” she sighed, turning around and leaning against the windowsill. “A few weeks ago, before the party, he somehow he got into my office and was waiting for me when I returned from lunch. He went on being the sarcastic, pain in the as -- butt, he is. Then told me he wanted his job back. I laughed in his face because I found it funny that he actually had the nerve to come to me and ask like we were best friends. Like I would willingly say oh yea, welcome back to PVH. I need you on my staff now more than ever.” Angie smirked as she thought more about it. “When I told him no he brought up Frankie… Brought up how he heard that he was dating Madison and how he knew I wasn’t happy about it. I haven’t the slightest clue of how he found out because nobody, at least to my knowledge, knew all of the details. When he mentioned it I was thrown and then even more so when he offered to get her away from him and in exchange I give him his job back,” she explained.
She crossed her arms and looked away. “I told him no, no deal… But Erica, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t seconds away from telling him to do it. And I would be lying now if I said I haven’t thought about telling him to do it, on more than one occasion.”
"And that day at the park when he said that Jesse didn't me know as well as he did, he was talking about our conversation. He knows I haven't spoken to my husband about it and he knows it's because I can't make up my mind on whether to take him up on his offer. It's like he's in my head and..."

Erica shook her head, "He was playing you, Angie! He could read it in your face... you know how he is. As soon as he sees a raise of your eyebrow or a curve of your lips, he knows that he's got you," she explained, shaking her head. David was turning out to be just short of a professional mastermind.
She then gave Angie an empathetic smile as she trailed off. "Listen, Angie, just because you thought about making the deal doesn't mean you did it. Just because you're still thinking about it doesn't mean you'll do it," she reminded her, but then looked at her seriously. "I want you to think about this carefully, though, Angie... did he mention how he would get rid of Madison? Would he pay her off? Blackmail her to leave Frankie? Or... or do you think he'd do something more? I know the last thing you want is to see your children hurting, Angie, so every time the thought creeps into your mind, I want you to remember how Frankie would feel... not only about Madison not being in his life, but about how it happened. You know that David wouldn't keep your secret, either. You know he'd do what he had to, to get Madison away from your son, & then he'd probably have fun blackmailing you with that for a while before he told your family everything," Erica explained, knowing all too well how his mind worked. She couldn't believe what he was doing to Angie... not to mention everyone else in the town!

“Erica, how do you know what I’m not going to do when I don’t even know myself?” Angie asked curiously.
After a few moments of digesting the questions Erica asked Angie let her mind wander. Let her mind travel back to that day and replay the whole conversation between she and David. She realized in that moment he hadn’t actually said anything. “No, h—he didn’t say,” she finally told her. “He didn’t even drop a clue as to how he was going to get rid of her.” And now that she thought about that along with everything else Erica had just said to her, the thought of agreeing with him scared her even more. Because what if he did something that could mentally hurt Madison or… physically? What if this affected her baby in a horrible way? The fault wouldn’t be Madison’s nor David’s, it would be hers. She, his own mother, would be causing the same pain she was trying to keep him from experiencing again.
Covering her mouth as more thoughts began to settle in her troubled mind, she looked up to Erica. “Oh my god,” she breathed. “I didn’t even… That didn’t even cross my mind! Oh god, I really am like my father. Erica, I promised myself the day Jesse and I got Frankie back that I would not become my father, that I would support him and not try to come in between he and whomever he brought home. I would accept it and just be there for him for whatever. I… I’ve been sitting here, this whole time thinking about trying to help him avoid getting his heartbroken, but I haven’t thought about what my help would do to him in the end. I never once thought that I would be the cause of that broken heart.”
Angie stood straight up and went to the sofa, but instead of walking around to take a seat she braced the back of it. “I let David get inside of my head and run my every thought concerning this relationship,” she mumbled before looking over her shoulder. “Why? Why does he have to have power over everybody? How does this happen? One minute you think you have beaten him at his own game, have him figured out to a T, but in reality you’re not even close.”

Erica shook her head. "No, see... you're not at all like your father. Would your father have even given this a second thought? Would he have ever put it off? If he was in your situation, he wouldn't have hesitated to get rid of Madison... or in your case, Jesse. You have. You knew in the back of your mind that it would hurt Frankie too much," she assured her friend, sympathetically. She knew that she was right, though. Angie wasn't like her father, not even a minuscule bit.
She then followed Angie over to the couch, & sat down, looking up at her friend. "You can beat him at his own game, Angie. You can. All you have to do is tell him no. Maybe Madison isn't your favorite person in the world, but is she anything like David Hayward... because in the little while that I knew her & helped her, she seemed a little... overwhelmed, but I think she has a good heart," she nodded gently. "I know you have a good heart, Angie, & you have to turn David down. That's the only way you can take away his power over you."

After hearing, really hearing what her friend said Angie looked away and sighed. “I should have talked to you sooner,” she said teasingly, but meaning it with everything in her. Before her friend came over and made her see things that she couldn’t, because of worry and other things, she’d been on the edge. Her mind was telling her what she had to do and her heart, part of her heart was agreeing. While the other part just wouldn’t, couldn’t get on board about this whole thing. That part of her heart was what kept her from letting that continue to ring and it was that part of her heart that told her to walk out that day and never look back.
“Erica… I… Thank you,” she said, dropping her head. It was in that moment Jocelyn turned around and took notice that her mommy wasn’t happy anymore. She was crying. Wondering, she stood up and walked over. “Mommy,” she whimpered, patting her leg. “You kay?” At the sound of her baby girl’s voice Angie looked up and smiled. “I am honeybun.” “No cry,” she pleaded, shaking her head and then seconds later crawling into her mother’s lap and laying her head on her shoulder. “No cry.” Angie glanced over at Erica and chuckled. “Okay Ms. Jocelyn, no crying. I promise,” she vowed, rubbing her back and kissing the top of her head.
After whispering her promise again in her baby’s ear she looked up to her friend. “I shouldn’t have let this eat at me. I should have talked to somebody, but I just thought I could handle it alone. I don’t know how that came about but it did,” she said with a chuckle, trying to figure that whole thing out. “When I couldn’t talk to Jesse about it I should have come to my friends… Hmph! Had I told Jesse he probably would’ve went out and did something crazy. Even though Hayward deserves whatever comes his way, my husband doesn’t deserve to go down because of it. And I couldn’t let that happen,” she admitted. “I understand everything that you said and Erica, again, I thank you.”
“And I know I’ve said it a thousand times, I’ll say it a thousand more… I’m here for you. When you want or need to get something off your chest, I’m your girl.”

Erica couldn't help but smile at Jocelyn interacting with Angie. It was so precious... she hoped that Colton would be like that with her soon. He was over a year old now, & she knew that he would develop later than most babies, but she was still looking forward to those moments with him. Although she enjoyed how he was constantly cuddling her now...
She then nodded, watching the baby trot over to watch television. "At least you told someone now & didn't wait any longer," she told her with a slight smile, & heard Angie say that if she ever needed to talk... but Erica already almost tuned her out.
She then looked back at the doctor, & said, "Well, I'm sorry I didn't tell you about Josh, Angie. I know I should have... I was so busy, & so worried that David would take him away from me again. He... he made a deal with me, too, Angie... in order to see Josh, I had to agree to let him be my doctor. He wants to deliver my baby," she confided, scared that David would take her next son from her, too.

Angie shook her head and before she could tell her friend to stop apologizing, she heard something that made her do a double take. “What kind of deal?” She asked. “And I’m going to take a wild guess and say you told him yes… Otherwise we wouldn’t have seen Josh that day, correct?”
“Why does he want to deliver your baby?” Angie asked, letting the gears roll trying to also figure out for herself why David just had to be there. Why did the devil want to be in attendance for a joyous occasion in this woman’s life? Was he planning to do something and what? Angie wanted to know, because if that was the case it wasn’t happening. No, not if that was the case… David wasn’t step foot in that room, nor was he stepping foot into her hospital to cause hell for everybody there. And mostly important he certainly wasn’t going to cause hell for Erica, Jackson and this baby. “What does Jack have to say about this?”

Bowing her head, she replied, "I did something awful to my child, too, Angie. I gave up my unborn son's safety in order to see Josh. David has this sick way of pitting us against our own children... I fell into his trap, which is why I so desperately hoped you would reconsider," she explained. She knew Angie would break her own heart if she gave David his job back... especially if in return David would take something from Frankie.
Erica shrugged, shaking her head. "I have no idea why he wants to be there, but it can't be for anything good," she confirmed in her head. She then heard Jack's name & felt her stomach drop. "Well, I told him that night what... what I had done, & even though he was upset with me, he understood. He told me he has a plan, but he won't tell me what it is. I'm due in less than two weeks, though! I just don't want him there... but if I don't allow him into the room..." she trailed off, not even able to imagine what he could do.
