Dixie had the day off from work and with Kathy back at school and the twins at daycare, she was in the mood to do some shopping, but wanted some company. So she called Marissa and they agreed to meet at the mall in the afternoon. Dixie also couldn't help wondering if the Babe bomb had been dropped on Marissa yet. As far as she knew the sisters didn't know eachother existed. But after David blasted J.R with the news the way he had, she had a feeling if Marissa didn't know about her twin resurfacing yet, it would only be a matter of time. There was also everything that J.R was fighting that had Dixie concerned, and hoping the woman he'd come to love would stand by him through it all.
After parking her car in the lot, Dixie headed over to the food court where she and Marissa agreed to meet. And after getting a cup of coffee and a muffin, took a seat at a corner table and patiently waited.

After getting a call from Dixie about having a girls day out and maybe do a little shop. It was defintly a welcoming call and something Marissa defintly needed. She enjoyed spending time with Dixie, and it was really good to have someone to talk too. So after pulling up at the mall and turning off her car Marissa stepped out of the car dressed in a pair of tight hip hugger jeans, a white cami top that was tucked into her jeans with a button down see through shirt over top of it that was also tucked into her jeans.
After shutting her door and setting her alarm, Marissa makes her way towards the front doors of the mall. Once she reaches the doors, she pushes her sunglasses up on top of her head before heading on inside. She places her purse on her shoulder and continues on her way towards the food court. Once she reaches the food court, she heads over to one of the food places and got herself a Caramel Mocha Frappuccino and a apple fritter before making her way over to where Dixie is setting waiting patiently for her. Once she sets her stuff down she gives Dixie a hug before taking a seat as she begins to speak.
"Hey Dixie... thank you so much for suggesting a girls day out it was defintly needed."

Sipping on her coffee, Dixie heard footsteps and glancing up, sure enough she saw Marissa. "Hey sweetie! So glad you could make it." She greeted, returning the younger woman's hug before sitting back down. "Oh definitely. It's been a long time since I saw you and besides, we were due for a little shopping I think." Dixie smiled, nibbling on some of her lemon poppyseed. "So tell me while we're finishing up the food, what have you been up to?" She asked. "I remember last time we talked you said you'd just come from classes? How are those going?"

"School is going really well thanks for asking, this year is abit tougher then last year. But I'm sure I will be able to stick it out and become the best lawyer that I can be."
Marissa breaks off a piece of her apple fritter and begins to nibble on it. Once that piece is gone, she takes a sip from her frappuchino she sets the cup back down and looks over towards Dixie as she begins to speak.
"Trust me we defintly need a day filled with shopping and a whole lot of fun. I'll probably pick up something for lunch and head over to see JR this afternoon. You know spend a little time with the man that I love before AJ gets home from school."
Marissa blushes a little bit as memories from the night she surprised JR with dinner comes into mind. That was the first night that they had mad love, and it had been everything Marissa had been expecting and so much more. She looks down and licks her lips before she looks back up over towards Dixie a slight twinkle can be seen in her eyes as she begins to speak.
"So how have things been going with you Dixie? The last time we saw each other, you and JR were arguing abit. Did that all get cleared up? Are you two back in a good place now?"

Hearing Marissa talk about being the best lawyer she could, Dixie smiled. "Oh, I don't doubt it for a second." She said knowingly, and smiled again, a little more softly, when Marissa mentioned seeing J.R. Before she asked the inevitable question. "Well, I went to visit him a few days afterwards, hoping we'd smooth everything out. But I couldn't have timed things worse, as if he wasn't going though enough, that day he was under so much of pressure because of Adam and the business. He wasn't very receptive. I tried to get through to him and, I think he heard me but...I'm worried for him, Marissa. About the cancer, Chandler and just..other things he's facing. It seems like his entire world's turned on its axis and is about to crush him..and that there's nothing I can do to stop it. There's only so much that chocolate chip cookies can do." Dixie sighed sadly. Pushing aside her muffin after feeling her appetite start to slip away. Between the cancer, the battle with Adam for the business, and the Babe factor, there was little, if anything, she could do to keep her son from getting hurt. And the more she thought about it the more it killed her inside. She was relieved though to be sitting with the one person who was the the one bright spot in J.R's life, aside from his son. And let Marissa know it with a soft smile, gently reaching to squeeze her hand. "I'm just so grateful though that he has you, Marissa. Now more then ever, J.R needs someone who he can trust and rely on. Someone who hasn't given him any reason to doubt them. I don't even know if I fit that bill right now for him, but you? I..I think you're just what my son needs." Dixie said honestly. Even if she was a better liar, she wouldn't dare say something like this if it wasn't true.

OOC: I'm sorry it took me too days to reply but that medicine I've been on has been making me drunk and sleepy lol so if this dosent make sense thats part of the reason lol.
"Trust me I have no intention of leaving JR or AJ... JR is everything I've ever looked for or wanted in a man. He is warm, and caring, he is sweet and kind, strong and brave and he loves me for me. Not because I'm beautiful, or because I'm a stand in for some other woman. He really and truthfully loves me, just as much as I love him. And I'm prepared to stand by him through his battle with Cancer. I'm going to be here here through it all even when they tell him he is cancer free I will be right there holding his hand and thats a promise Dixie. You dont ever have to worry about me breaking JR's heart, I love him too much to do something like that."
Marissa says those words before she lifts her cup to her lips and takes a sip. She then sets it back down on the table, and licks the whip cream off her lips before she begins to speak once more.
"I know JR feels like everything in his world is turning upside down.. I know he is feeling stressed out and like he is carrying the weight of the whole world on his shoulders. But it seems like when he is around me he is free to relax and just be himself. And to be honest thats exactly what he needs, instead of being stressed or feeling like everyone is taking pitty on him because he is sick."
Marissa reaches her hand up and brushes her hair from her face, she takes a deep breath and breaks off another piece of her fritter. She pops the piece into her mouth and the two set there in silence for a few moments. Once she is done she runs her tongue over her lips before she begins to speak in a soft voice.
"And I'm not saying that people shouldn't be worried about him. Because to be honest with you Dixie, I worry about him each and every day. But I always put a smile on my face when I'm with JR, I dont want him to see that I'm worried. I want to do things that make him happy, I feel thats a way to let him see that he has so much left in this world to live for. I know you know what I mean Dixie, even though I'm not really explaining it very well..."
Once again the two fall back into silence, while they continue to munch on there breakfast and drink there coffee or fraps. After a few more minutes of silence, Marissa looks back over towards Dixie as she begins to speak.
"I'm sure even though JR might be stressed out and everything. I'm sure he knows how much you love him Dixie, he is just trying to deal with the cancer and everything in his own way. And I admire him for having the courage to deal with everything that is being thrown his way, just like I know your proud of him as well."
Marissa finishes off her sentence, before picking up her cup once more and swallows down some more of her frappachino before setting the cup back down while waiting to see what Dixie has to say.

OOC: It looked fine to me, no worries. I hope you're 100% better soon!
Hearing Marissa reassure her she'd never hurt J.R, warmed Dixie's heart more than she could say. Even if J.R was suspicious or hostile around her, like he'd been the other day in the boardroom, it seemed like Marissa was exempt from that drama and for that Dixie was grateful.
"No, you're explaining it, perfectly. In fact I wish I..I could do the same. You know just smile and, not let on how much of a wreck I am. But, I think it's a little late for that." She said sheepishly, shrugging a bit.
"Marissa of course I'm proud of J.R. He's my son. I always have been and always will be proud of him. And I mean, I know what it's like to look death square in the eye. I know how difficult and scary it is. J.R's been so strong and put on such a brave face. Everyone handles ordeals like this differently, and..I know he's no exception to that. He is being brave and being stubborn, and still fighting."
She shrugged, though what he was fighting she wasn't that sure of. So far as Dixie knew he was still making taking back the business his top priority. Unless things had changed the last time they'd spoken.
"I'm just, I'm glad he has you. Because I know that, as much as J.R and I love eachother, I know I'm not going to be enough incentive for him to beat this cancer. I can preach about his, fighting this lymphoma til I'm blue in the face but...there's only so much I can say that will have an effect on him. And right now I don't feel like, what I'm saying is affecting him at all. Of anything he's just, telling me what I need to hear to keep me from losing it completely." She laughed bitterly, taking another sip of coffee. "I know though, you're in his heart Marissa. And I have faith that the love you have for him, and your love for eachother, will be enough to get him through this. Even if I'm not enough, you and A.J are." Dixie said, knowing Tad and J.R way back were what got her well. Even if she wasn't enough to keep J.R focused on saving his life, his son and the woman he loved, they had a fighting chance at it.
All she hoped was that they'd be allowed to remain in J.R's life undisturbed, that things wouldn't be interrupted by a certain blond twin of Marissa's that had resurfaced. But not knowing if Marissa knew anything about Babe, and not wanting to be the one to break that kind of news to her, Dixie decided it was time to shift gears here.
"So um, anyways..I'm sorry. So much for keeping the conversation light, uh..what you say we get this show on the road? Hit a few stores?" Dixie asked with a smile. Anxious to go shopping and just distract herself for awhile. She sure as hell needed to.

"Sure hitting a few stores sounds good to me, I ran out of my favorite perfume and lotion. So I need to stop off at Victoria Secrets, and also at bath and body works and pick up some stuff there. Maybe see if I can find some new scents or anything that JR might like on me."
She gives Dixie a small smile and finishes off her drink before the two of them stand up and toss there stuff in the trash. Once there done, Marissa places her purse on her shoulder, before the two woman head off to do some shopping. While there walking, Marissa hooks her fingers into the belt loops of her jeans as she begins to speak in a soft sweet voice.
"You know i can't believe that its almost christmas time again, this will mean that me and JR have been together for almost a year. I just wonder what I should get him for Christmas, I could always put on something sexy. Put a red ribbon around me and I could be his Christmas present."
Marissa giggles obviously trying to lighten the mood since she can see that there is something going on in Dixie's head. She can't help but wonder what it is, since Dixie is usually so fun loving and full of life. After pondering it for a moment, before they reach the store. Marissa places a gentle hand on Dixies arm stopping her. She then looks over towards Dixie as she begins to speak.
"Is there something bothering you Dixie? You look like theres something bothering you other then the tiff with you and JR? There's no problems with you and Tad are there? Or is it something else that is bothering you?"

When Marissa mentioned Victoria's Secret, all Dixie could think of was the time Angie had dragged her in there on one of their shopping trips. At the time she hated her friend for it but later she wound up thanking her. She chuckled at the present idea though. On one hand it was a little strange talking about stuff like this with the woman dating her son. But Dixie wasn't one to turn down a little girl talk. Except today, she wasn't feeling all that chatty. And soon enough as they went to go to the store, Marissa picked up on it.
"Oh no sweetie. No, Tad and I are fine.", she said. At least there was one thing she could be honest about. "Marissa it's alright, I've just got some stuff on my mind but..c'mon, it's nothing a little credit card workout can't cure." She smiled, trying to go into the store but Marissa held her back. Darn her not being a better liar, and darn her hopefully soon to be daughter in law being so perceptive.
"Gosh, you're not going to let me slide here are you?" She sighed with a smile. "Hon it's nothing that earthshattering. I just, I had a run in with, David, recently that, left me pretty shaken up.", she admitted. Even though shaken up was a total understatement.
"I'm sorry, I know that he's your father but, as much as I've come to care for you...he's found ways to, come after my family time and time again. And a lot of it stemmed from, decisions I made regarding him and, how he felt about me in the past. We've got a pretty hideous history and, seeing him again just..kinda brought it all to the surface again. So, I apologize for not being more, chipper and upbeat today. Really, I do."

"I'm sorry for pressing the issue Dixie, but your my best friend and I couldn't help but feel like something was wrong. *sighs* I should of known David had something to do with this, I swear he seriously needs to get his priorities in check and stop causing people I care about so much grief."
Marissa gives her friend a big hug and rubs her back abit before she steps away. After a moment she begins to speak after clearing her throat.
"Don't let David get to you hun, I know he is my father but he is just a over bearing ogar who likes to cause other people pain, suffering and grief. And knowing he does things just makes me dislike him more and to be honest I hate that he is my father."
Marissa takes a deep breath before she looks back over at the store there standing infront of of. They had made it to the bath and body works store. She smiles abit before she looks at dixie and speaks.
"Come on let's forget about the outside world and do us some shopping. I'm sure we can find something in this store to relax us, I can already tell when I get home a bubble bath will be calling my name."
She laughs abit as the two woman head into the store, they pick up the little hand held basket before they branch off and begin to look at various things. About 15 minutes later they meet up in the center of the store both baskets are loaded to the top with Candles, bubble baths, aroma therapy stuff, lotions and various other things as Marissa speaks.
"Did you find anything good Dixie? I know I found a bunch of stuff I feel like a perfume and candle factory. *giggles*"

Hearing Marissa call her her best friend, despite her mood Dixie couldn't help smiling. Surprised but happy to hear that since she called the younger woman a friend as well. Hugging her back she nodded. If anyone needed to get his priorities in check, or a reality check it was David Hayward. "I agree..", she sighed. And when Marissa said she hated having David as a father, Dixie couldn't bring herself to argue her. "Well, you were the one thing he did right his whole life." Dixie said honestly. But was tempted by the offer to forget about her problems in a store. "Oooh, that does sound nice."
Heading inside, she and Marissa went their separate ways and basically split the contents of the store between the two of them. And afterwards met up again with their stuff in tow. "Oh goodness I found a ton. I even picked up some things I think Kathy will like." Pawing through her basket she held up a pink sparkly lip gloss and some angel food cake scented lotion. "Whatcha think, girly enough?", she asked.

"Oh yea thats defintly girly enough Kathy will defintly like that. I think I got one of each, I couldn't make up my mind because everything smells so good in here. I even got me some candles and stuff, and just think some of this could be christmas presents too. I mean after all Christmas is right around the corner so is halloween and thanksgiven."
The two woman head up to the counter and place there baskets up there letting the woman ring everything up seperate. While there waiting for everything to be rung up, Marissa looks over towards her best friend as she begins to speak.
"You know with Halloween on the way in a few weeks we should pick up a costume and even getting something for AJ and the girls. I was thinking maybe we could think of something diffrent to do for halloween this year. Something that will not only be fun for the adults, but also fun for the children this year. Maybe a big party or even a haunted house, I use to love haunted houses when I was a child. And it stays in spirit of halloween you know what I mean."
After all the purchases have been paid for the two woman head on out of the store with there bags. Marissa thinks about where they should go before she begins to speak in a soft voice.
"How about we stop in the toy store, I'd like to pick up something for AJ. And I would also like to pick up a present for JR, you know something that would brighten his day more then I already do."
She giggles softly and brushes a stray piece of hair from her face as the two woman continue on there way towards the toy store. Marissa flicks her hair over her shoulder before she looks over towards Dixie as she begins to speak.
"You might even find something for Kathy in the toy store... And you could always pick up a little something for Tad. Who knows maybe we can go get a pedicure as well that way we can relax and chit chit."
Marissa knew her friend needed to relax and letting someone else massage her feet and paint her toes was the perfect way to do that.

"Oh don't I know it.", Dixie smiled. She was already looking forward to the holidays and Marissa was right, they were right around the corner. As she paid for her things, she heard Marissa bring up just what she and Kathy had started planning the other day. "You know, Kathy and I were talking about just that very thing the other day. Tad and I used to do haunted houses every year when the boys were growing up. I told Kathy about it and she couldn't have been more thrilled if I'd told her, I dunno she could eat all her candy Halloween night. She and I even picked up some decorations at a costume shop. But I'd love if you could give us a hand setting the whole thing up! You me and Kathy, we'd have a great time spooking up the house. I'd love your help!", Dixie offered. Hoping that Marissa would consider. Soon enough they were on the way to the toy store to get some stuff for two of their favorite guys. She laughed though when she suggested getting things for Kathy and maybe Tad. "Oh well if I got something for one I'd have to for the other. It's a given!", she chuckled, but her smile broadened at the thought of getting a pedicure. "You know, that sounds terrific actually. A spa may as well be my toy store." Walking inside the store though Dixie smiled at the huge stuffed animal section. This was always her favorite section when she was growing up, and it was J.R's as well when he was little. Going over she held up a toy giraffe and chuckled. "I got J.R one of these when he was little. Told him it would protect him from that monster he said was under his bed. I..it worked though. He never came running to wake me up in the middle of the night after I bought him this." Wistfully she smiled before showing it to Marissa. "I bet A.J would've liked it. He might be too big for it now though. Maybe we should try, video games or something.", she shrugged.

"That stuffed animal reminds me of the tiger my adopted father bought home to me one day when I was a little girl. I had been sick with the chicken pox, and my dad came home one day from work and he gave me that tiger. He told me that the tiger would always protect me and there wasn't a night that went by that I didn't sleep with that tiger. It made me feel safe, almost like I still had my dad there, even though he was at work..."
Marissa looks down at the stuffed animals and takes a deep breath, forcing back the tears that were threatening to spill at the mention of her adopted parents. After a moment though she finally looks up at Dixie and gives her a small smile before she speaks.
"Hmm I know AJ said he wanted a nintendo ds how about we get him one of those, and a couple of games and we will just go from there."
The two woman make there way through the store, deep down Marissa remembered going through the toy store with her parents. Picking out a barbie doll or something like that while setting on her daddies shoulders. She takes another shakey breath and makes her purchase for AJ. Before the two woman head on out of the store as Marissa speaks.
"So what's next Dixie? We could go to the Halloween Store or we could make that the last place we go to get the decorations for the haunted house. Or would u like to go to the pedicure shop and get our toes done before we do any more shopping."

Hearing Marissa talk about her adopted parents, Dixie could tell this conversation wasn't an easy one for her to have, and gently rubbed her shoulder, just wanting the younger woman to know she was there. "That sounds like a great idea.", she smiled. And after they purchased the items they left the store, before Marissa asked her what they should do next. "You know that pedicure is looking pretty nice right about now. Shall we?" She asked with a grin and got a nod in return. Soon enough they went over to the spa/salon Dixie had been to a few times with Angie, Di, Erica, etc, and told the woman at the front desk what they were in the mood for. "Alright if you ladies want to go pick out some polish, we'll get everything else set up." The woman smiled, and pointed them in the direction of the nail polish display. "Alright...so, I'm thinking either this maroon with the gold shimmer, or the pale pink with the silver. Help me choose." Dixie asked, holding up both bottles. She was always indecisive at this sort of thing.
