“But what if daddy wants to stay in the mansion when he gets back too?” Kathy asked with a small shrug. “Like a big sleepover.” She had to agree with her mom as she was reminded that J.R. and A.J. spent all their time here, and that had it been scary they wouldn’t have been there either. “Maybe they scared all the monsters away and that’s why it’s not so scary for them anymore. But we have to check under the bed because there could be...” She glanced back and forth to make sure there was no chance that it could be listening in.
“A gazillioned eyed monster!” she whispered for only her mom to hear. “Jamie knows how to fight it, and he’s not here...” Neither was Julia, who had helped her with that monster, however she’d seen her mom in the last week and she’d been just as tough stopping the monsters over at their house. “You don’t snore, only daddy snores really, really loudly. I thought he was the monster.” The first few nights she’d been afraid to sleep alone she’d ventured into her parents room and nearly gotten quite a fright when she’d first heard him snoring (something she’d lost memory of).
“Will the driver know where to find all the things?” Kathy asked with concern, her eyes going to the front door. “What if he cant find them?” She didn’t like that idea at all, but her mom soothed her over, saying that her beloved panda wouldn’t be scared tonight. When she asked for a hug, Kathy obliged without a second thought, wrapping her arms around her mom tightly and hugging her close.
“Are you sad about daddy?” she asked, voice muffled from the hug. “Do you think he misses us as much as we do?”

At the big sleepover comment, Dixie bit her lip not knowing when or even if Tad would be back for sleepovers. Or anything for that matter. She couldn't help smiling though when Kathy leaned close and whispered about the monsters. "Gazillion eyed?! You sure?!", she asked, playing along until Kathy mentioned Jamie and by extension Julia. "Why Kathy Martin! Your daddy is a lot of things but he's certainly not a monster!", she mock scolded, a teasing gleam in her eye. That faded when Kathy started stressing about the driver and the plan. "It's okay honey, Grandma Opal and I both told him exactly what to get and where to find it. I just didn't want us going out again once we got settled in here tonight. That's all.", she shrugged, feeling bad that she hadn't run it past Kathy. But seeing how tired her daughter and how emotional a day they'd both had, she felt she made the right choice. Hugging her tightly, when she heard her question Dixie sighed sadly, fighting back tears. "Yes I am, baby. I..I'm really sad about your daddy. I already miss him more than I can say.", she answered honestly, pulling back to smooth Kathy's hair. "I know he misses us too, Kathy. You, me, J.R, the twins. But, if I know anything about your dad I know he finds his way back. He always finds his way back. When the time's right he'll be back here with us. In the meantime though, you have me. And I promise you're stuck with me. Okay?"

“I’m sure!” Kathy assured her mom about the gazillion eyed monster. “It’s scary and if Jamie’s not around it will get to us. But I think I have my blanket that turns us invisible and we can use that just in case.” She hoped it was brought over with her things, and wished she’d made note of all the important things in her room (some brand new to her, although not exactly new). “I know daddy isn’t! But he sounds like one at night time.” She gave a little shrug and a smile before going back to all the things she wanted over at the Chandler mansion.
“Okay. So long as you told him and he knows to bring everything we need,” she told her, relieved that everything had been informed to the driver. She hugged her mom tightly, only pulling back when she asked the question and it was answered. She didn’t like that her mom was so upset over her dad not being there, and wished she could make it better.
“Maybe daddy will be home soon,” she tried to sound hopeful for her mom. “And we can go home or stay here and sleepover. Do you think we can call him, and let him know that we love and miss him?” She wanted to hear his voice again before she went to bed, but even if that wasn’t possible she had the new memories they were starting to make to cling on to, and wished the old ones would return. Nodding to what her mom said about being stuck with her, she smiled and took her hand in hers. “Stuck with you forever?” She paused for a second before hugging her again. “I love you mommy.”

Blinking back tears still at Kathy talking about Tad, wanting to call him, pulling back from the hug Dixie decided what the heck. It couldn't hurt to try calling him on his phone, even if she could only leave a message. "Well I think we can at least try to. If he isn't there we'll leave a message for him though, hows that sound?", she asked, getting a nod before Kathy hugged her again, saying she loved her. "I love you too, sunshine. More than anything." Sniffling, when Kathy released her she reached into her purse for her phone and hit the second speed dial for her husband, then put her phone on speaker. And after four rings.. "Hi you've reached Thaddeus Martin. I'm not able to take your call but leave a message and I'll get back to you as soon as possible."
"Taad. It's me honey.", Dixie said, her accent poking through when she said his name. "I..I don't know when you're gonna get this but, Kathy and I just wanted to call you and say goodnight. Wherever you are we just want you to know that we love you and miss you. And, we can't wait til you're back here at home with us." Fighting tears as she spoke, she handed the phone over to Kathy. "Here baby you can say something too."

“That sounds like the best idea!” Kathy agreed with an enthusiastic nod and hugged her mom back, as tightly as she dared. “More than the stars? Because that’s how much I love you and daddy.” Pulling back she watched as her mom retrieved her phone from her purse and found Tad’s number. As the phone rang, she crossed her fingers, hoping he would pick up, but when the answering machine came on, she gave a disheartened sigh. Staying quiet while her mom spoke to the machine, she could tell it was upsetting her just as much as it was for her too.
“Mommy?” Kathy mouthed, her hand gently touching her arm. The phone was offered to her, and she took it willingly, holding it in the small of her hand. “Hi daddy! We miss you! A-And I love you. Please come home soon. I’m being good. We’re at J.R.’s and when you get back maybe we can have a sleepover! I love you!” A voice informed her that that was all the time they had for a message, and to press the number one if she wanted to keep it. Pressing one, she looked up at her mom and handed the phone back.
“Do we have to ask J.R. which room is ours?” she asked curiously, with a yawn, not trying to hide it this time.

"Yes. More then the stars and the moon.", Dixie assured. Listening as Kathy spoke to Tad and the hope in her voice about him coming back, made her heart ache even more than before. She was just ready to go to bed and wake up tomorrow with this all being nothing more than a bad dream. She could sense Kathy felt the same way, and her daughter confirmed it when she turned to her sleepy eyed, asking about which room they'd sleep in. Wondering if she could make it up the flight of stairs with her leg, Dixie was trying to remember if there was a room on the first floor where she and Kathy could sleep. "Well I think we have to say goodnight to him and, maybe say thank you for his letting us stay? I'm willing to bet though we pick out any room we like down here for the two of us.", she said. "Sunshine why don't you go on into the living room and see if you can find J.R. I'll be there in a second.." Dixie said with a smile, that turned to a slight frown as she struggled to get upright again with her crutches.

JR knew that Kathy and his Mom needed some time to talk, he hoped that his little sister would be okay with his idea of having the family move into the mansion with him. He wanted nothing more than all of his family under one roof right now, but he also knew that Dixie could use the help, with Tad gone and still recovering herself, some assistance with the twins and Kathy would definitely be useful.
After giving them some time to discuss it, JR headed out towards the entranceway when he heard his mother saying something to Kathy about how she should go find him. "Find me for what?" He asked with a smile. "Need some help?" He asked his mom.

“Mhmm! Goodnight and a goodnight kiss,” Kathy told her mom with a small smile and a nod. “And thank him too. Are the rooms down here close? I don’t want you to go far.” She was worried about her mom and her leg, and hoped the rooms would be close enough that she wouldn’t have to walk for long. She was just about to go into the living room to find her big brother when he came out and asked why he needed to be found.
“I found him!” Kathy pointed with a small smile. “We wanted to come find you to say goodnight and give you a kiss and say thank you for letting us stay here.” She glanced over at her mom and seeing her struggle helped up right one of the crutches before looking back at J.R. as he came to help as well.

"Oh, honey it's okay. I've been on crutches before you know. I'll be fine!", Dixie insisted. She couldn't help smiling at the innocent way Kathy spoke to her, but at the same time didn't want her daughter worrying. Or her son for that matter. When J.R poked his head in the foyer though she realized that wasn't about to happen. "Ah, yes. You did.", she chuckled, watching as Kathy talked to J.R, and sighing a bit when he asked if she needed help, and did help her. "Thank you.", she said sheepishly as between the three of them, she was upright again. "Though I am going to have to get the hang of doing this kinda thing myself.", she hinted. "Okay now if I remember correctly, J.R is there a spot downstairs where my roomie and I can crash tonight?", Dixie asked, nodding subtly to Kathy indicating she'd have a guest bunking with her.

JR smiled at his sister as she said she wanted to find him to give him a goodnight hug and kiss and thank him for letting them stay there. He was relieved that Kathy had gone along with the idea, truly believing that it was the best thing for his whole family to be together right now while they recovered (and while Tad was away). "Hey, I'm glad to have you stay here, it'll be a blast" He told her.
JR went over and helped his mother up though he knew she was reluctant to accept the help. "Well you're not going to be using those crutches permanently so you don't have to get too used to them" He then nodded as she asked about the rooms. "Yes, there's a few guest rooms down the hall already made up, pick whichever one you like, and if there's anything you need let me know and I'll make sure you get it"

"Eh, you've got a point there.", Dixie shrugged as J.R told her the rooms down the hall were made up. "I'm sure we'll be just fine, thank you though. For everything.", she said hoping she was communicating how appreciative she was. For letting them stay and for how he talked her down earlier during her meltdown. Not long after, there was a knock on the door and Dixie answered it to see Opal's driver, Saul, armed with a pink duffle. Relieved that Kathy's required items for tonight had arrived, after thanking Saul and sending him home, Dixie turned back to her kids. "Alright, I think it's time we get your stuff unpacked in our room, Kathy. It's getting late and last I checked, someone was a little snoozy.", she hinted, reaching down to tousle Kathy's hair.

“I think it will too,” Kathy agreed with her big brother as he said that he was glad she was staying and how it would be fun. She knew her mom was sad with her dad gone now, so it was for the best that they were staying here. She only hoped they’d bring everything they would need for the time they were here. Listening to her mom and brother talk about the room arrangements she glanced in the direction of the hallway wondering which room they would choose, when the knock at the door came she glanced up and smiled at the familiar face of the driver.
“Amanda Panda! And my chicken!” she squeaked and ran towards him, taking her pink duffle and quickly unzipping it. Shuffling through it she found her two stuffed animals and pulled them out, hugging them tight. As Saul left, Kathy looked up at her mom as she turned towards her and her brother and spoke about finding their room and going to bed.
“Okay,” she replied quietly and giggled as her mom tousled her hair. Yawning she picked up her duffle back and went over to her brother, giving him a great big hug. “Night J.R., thank you for letting us stay here.” When she pulled back from it she glanced over at her mom to see if she was ready to go in search of their room.
