“Thank you, Kathy, I would love to help you and your mom with the memories,” Colby replied softly back. “Oh. If she is with the angels now, then I’m sure she’s looking down on you and me and your mom right now.” Colby paused as she watched Jamie’s little sister looking up at her mom.
She waited until Dixie spoke up before speaking again herself. “I’m sure they were, Kathy. But you know what, Jamie and I decided to become a couple ourselves before he left town,” Colby said softly. She nodded at the little girl’s next words. “It’s okay. I’m sure that you will remember if you look through those picture albums.”

"I don't know if I was scared, Kathy. But, you know if you're really excited about something sometimes you get butterflies in your stomach? I had a lot of butterflies in my stomach right before I told you the truth. And they had really big wings too.", Dixie admitted with a smile, that faded some when Kathy mentioned Tad. "Yeah baby, your daddy was really happy."
As Colby and Kathy talked, Dixie nibbled on one of the brownies but kept a close eye on her little girl. She was prepared to intervene if Kathy looked overwhelmed or upset, and came close to doing so when Julia was brought up. Looking on nervously as the conversation continued, Dixie slipped her arm around Kathy protectively. On one hand she wanted her to try to explain things on her own. The therapist and Kathy's pediatrician agreed she should tell stories about her past as it came back to her, that it could only help jog the rest of her memory. But it tore at Dixie to see her struggling to piece things together. She couldn't take seeing her child upset or in pain, and when Kathy glanced up at her asking about Tad, the pained confusion in her eyes was clear.
"Honey, your daddy figured out he was your daddy, after the wedding and after your Aunt Julia went to heaven. He told me all about the day it happened. You were in the hospital chapel together and he told you you were right the day you called him daddy. Even though everyone said not to, everyone else was wrong. He said too that when you called him daddy for the first time, it was one of the happiest, best moments of his whole entire life.", Dixie said softly, cuddling a bit closer to Kathy before Colby spoke. "Really? I hadn't heard about that.", she said, surprised. But smiled at the younger woman almost approvingly. She wasn't Jamie's mother but loved him like he was her own son, and she just wanted to see him happy. "I'm glad you two found each other though. You two are terrific kids and, I just want to see you happy.", she said sincerely. When Colby agreed the albums would help, Dixie nodded but wasn't sure if Kathy was up to more memory lane traveling right now. And wondered if it was time for a change of pace. "I agree, but as much as I love looking at pictures, maybe we ought to take a break. 'Cause, I got it on good authority there's a stash of board games in that cabinet that haven't been out of their boxes in quite some time.", she hinted. "What you think ladies? Sunshine, you want to go over, check it out?", Dixie asked with a grin as she gestured to the cabinet. She hoped a game or two would help keep Kathy's mind off her memory troubles, serve as a distraction for the rest of the afternoon.

Colby nodded. “We had only told JR before Jamie left,” she explained quietly, blushing a little bit. “Thank you. We are happy. But I just wish he would have told me where he went before he left.” Colby nodded about the albums and the board games. “We can play. I’ve become addicted to that kind of thing while Jamie has been gone. What do you think, Miss Kathy? Feel up for playing with your mom and me?”

“I know Aunt Julia is watching us,” Kathy replied to Colby with a nod. “But I still miss her. Sometimes I think she’ll come in to tuck me in at night, but she doesn’t.” This didn’t mean she didn’t like it when Tad had or when Dixie did, but she was still feeling the loss as if it was yesterday, and for her, it was. When Dixie spoke about how Tad found out she was their little girl, Kathy went quiet and clung to every word trying to remember it.
“I want to remember that,” she told Dixie quietly, glancing at the rug on the floor. “Because those memories would be special, right? I want to remember calling you mommy for the first time, and daddy too, but I cant... I can only remember now, when you first – when you told me again because I lost my memory. I know I’ll remember and I have to wait, but waiting is long and it makes me more sad.” As Colby spoke again up about Jamie and herself, Kathy made a little face at what she was being told.
“But Jamie loved Aunt Julia, they shared a room, and he fought the gazillion eyed monster with me!” she exclaimed and quickly shook her head. She didn’t understand how Jamie could get over Julia and move on, but she supposed her dad had done it with Krystal, maybe this was just what happened... As Dixie gave her approval, Kathy glanced away from them and tried to think of something else but was pulled back to the conversation when Dixie mentioned taking a break and playing board games. For a moment she seemed unsure of the whole thing but as Colby asked if she was up for it, she suddenly got an idea and glanced at Dixie.
“Can we play Lucky Ducks?” she asked with a huge smile, before looking quickly at Colby. “If you still have the game?” OOC: Sorry this took so long!

Colby nodded. “And it’s okay to miss her, Kathy,” she tells the little girl. “Maybe she does and you just don’t know it, sweetie.” Colby knew there was no correcting the little girl when she was indignant about Jamie loving Julia too. “I know he did, Kathy, and I’m sure that he would still fight it with you if you want him to when he returns.” She nodded and returned Kathy’s smile. “Of course we can play that, and yes, we still have it, Kathy.” Colby got up and went in search of the game, finding it between Chutes and Ladders and Clue.

"I know, baby. I know.", Dixie said softly, smoothing Kathy's hair as she glanced at the rug. When she reacted to Colby's news, Dixie bit her lip nervously, surprised to see her look affected and confused. She knew Jamie and Julia were seeing eachother but didn't realize how much of them Kathy had seen together, although she probably should've. She was relieved though the game suggestion seemed to be a good one. Looking to Colby, Dixie smiled when she said they still had the game. That day in the nursery with Kathy, Jamie and Little Adam never left her mind for good reason, and she was thrilled it hadn't left her little girl's either. "Gosh, it's definitely been awhile since I played this.", Dixie chuckled as Colby brought over the box and opened it up. "Baby, you remember what we do first?", she asked Kathy. The instructions were pretty straight forward but she wanted to see if Kathy remembered how to play.

“I do... bu – but it wouldn’t be the same,” Kathy told Colby quietly. She knew it wouldn’t be the same as it was before when she fought the gazillion eyed monster with Jamie and Julia. How could it? Julia was gone, and Jamie wasn’t living with them anymore. They could still do things together, but all the times she’d spent with the three of them were never going to happen again. If she could remember she would know how long the time had been since Julia’s passing and since her and Jamie ended their relationship, she’d be able to understand all that and accept the changes.
“You still have it? You didn’t throw it out?” she gasped in amazement and glee, her eyes lighting up when Colby went to fish the game out of the closet. She clapped her hands together and wriggled in her seat as the game was placed down before them. Immediately she went to the floor and pulled the game out with all the pieces. When Dixie spoke, she looked up and nodded with pride.
“It’s been since we played it, that’s how long it’s been for me,” she told her before rounding up all the ducks. “I remember!” She quickly handed out three nests for each player and then carefully set the ducks down in the little pond until all twelve of them were set. “We have to pick up the ducks that match our nest colours. And when the person who gets all three of their ducks into their nest, they win. Do you remember when we beat Jamie and Little A?” She tried hard not to remember what had been going on with her step-mom at the time, and instead focused back on the game, turning it on and watching as the ducks went around in a circle.
“Who wants to go first?” she asked now, looking between Colby and her mom.

Colby’s heart shattered at the sort of rejection she was giving Jamie through her. “It’s okay, Kathy. I’m sure that Jamie will understand completely when I tell him later during our phone call,” she told the little girl. “Of course we still have it, Kathy. We wouldn’t throw anything out that little girls like to play when they visit us here at the mansion.” Colby returned to her seat and put the box down on the floor, smiling over at Dixie when Kathy immediately jumped down to pull the game out. Colby accepted the nest that Kathy set in front of her, smiling as she listened to Kathy’s instructions. “I think I’ll go first,” Colby replies, rolling to her stomach and reaching out to select a duck.

Chuckling a bit at Kathy's matter of fact answer, Dixie watched as she explained the game and asked if she remembered the last time they played. "Oh yes, how could I forget?", she smiled. "They kept acting so smug like they were gonna beat us, but we showed them." After Colby made her move, Dixie picked up a duck of her own, then nodded to Kathy to take her turn. The game was basic though and designed for younger kids, so Dixie figured they should make a game within the game. "How about we make this interesting, girls?", she hinted, noting the time and that it was getting close to dinner. Since it was the weekend and she was residing in the mansion for the time being, she gave Lucretia the night off which meant she had control of the kitchen tonight. Not that she minded. "Winner, gets to decide what we have for dinner tonight. And the loser, has to help cook."

Colby giggled. “I hadn’t realized how much fun a girls’ night in sounded but this is actually making me feel a little better about missing Jamie,” she said to her companions. She nodded at Dixie’s suggestion. “I like that idea. We should also include dessert in that. What do you think, Kathy?”

“We did show them!” Kathy exclaimed happily. “They didn’t win against us. And then Tad came in and showed me the magic trick again. Do you remember that?” Watching as Colby picked up her first duck, then Dixie went next and Kathy was about to go when Dixie spoke up. Holding her hand over the pond she heisted and glanced towards her mom curiously.
“Interesting?” she repeated and brought her hand up to gently tap her chin. “How?” She giggled at the suggestion and nodded, quickly picking up her duck and placing it back down when it didn’t match. “I want chicken tenders and apple sauce!” She could remember eating that with her step-parents and Julia both at different times and knew how good it was. She glanced at Colby when she spoke about the girls night and nodded, it was a really fun idea. When the dessert part came up she quickly looked to the brownies and cupcakes that rested on the coffee table and slowly began to shrug.
“We have a lot of dessert, don’t we?” she asked, glancing to her mom for a moment. A Martin saying there was too much dessert?! Unheard of! “But there’s always room for more!” She grinned and nodded at the suggestion before waiting for the next person to take their turn.

"Hah, as if they could've.", Dixie scoffed, giving Kathy a knowing grin. It faded slightly when she mentioned Tad, but she managed a nod. "Of course I do, sunshine. Of course I do." Looking over at Colby, she nodded in agreement. She missed Tad every second of every day, and too many mornings waking up without him made her want to just sleep forever. The only thing getting her through were her kids and having them close. If they weren't with her Dixie didn't know what she'd do. "It's making me feel better too.", she said simply. Not wanting to bring up Tad's absence in front of Kathy. Hearing her chime in with her favorite dinner, Dixie chuckled and tousled her hair. "Mmm, that sounds good. Guess we'll have to make sure you win, huh?", she teased. Her eyebrows reached a different height though at Colby's dessert comment, considering they had a sugar rush buffet right in front of them. Kathy's remark though assured Dixie, her daughter was was definitely Tad's child. "Same as there's always room for vegetables, right?", she winked, covering the dessert tray with a lid. "I think the rest of this sugar buzz can wait til later on."

Kathy giggled as her hair was tousled and tried to fix it up as best she could, refixing the ponytails in her hair. She nodded when Dixie agreed that the dinner idea she had sounded it good, it was something she’d liked for a long time and wasn’t exactly sure when she’d had it last. At the idea of winning the game just so her meal could be made she glanced at the ducks anxiously before they spoke about dessert.
“Ewww! Vegetables!” she laughed and made a face at her mom before it faded for a second. “Aunt Julia made me eat a lot of vegetables with dinner, and then we had a big dessert I ate them all!” She was quite pleased with this because to her it was a giant feat, and it always made Julia proud. When Dixie covered the treats with a lid she pouted a little and glanced up at her.
“You mean we cant have one now?” she asked and then put her hands together. “Please, mommy?”

Colby smiled when Kathy nearly shouted what she wanted for dinner. “That would be a good meal, Kathy,” she replied. As she spoke, her stomach let out a loud rumble, just from the mention of food. “We do, but if we still have room after dinner, we can always eat the dessert.” Colby nods at the mention of feeling better when the men weren’t around. “Yes, there is always room for those vegetables and fruit.” She nods again at Dixie’s last comment. “I think that’s a good idea. If it doesn’t get eaten tonight, then I’ll surely eat it tomorrow for a snack or something.”

"Thank you Colby.", Dixie said gratefully. Glad she had someone in her corner on the fruit and vegetable front. Catching Kathy's pout though, she sighed and shook her head. Leave it to her little girl to get her with the puppy-dog eyes. "Now Kathy c'mon, you heard Colby. We'll have plenty of time for dessert after dinner.", she said resolutely, taking her turn with the game. All the while hoping they'd finish before it got too late. She was hungry and had a feeling from how Kathy was eying those brownies she was too. "Besides, you know the tooth fairy won't take teeth that fall outta your head from too much sugar!", she said knowingly, getting a look from her little girl. "Hey, I speak the truth. I'll have you know the tooth fairy and I are on very good terms. Now, who's turn is it?"
