((OOC: figured I'd start up a separate Xmas thread from the vacation one, didn't want too many things going on at once. If anyone really prefers it there though I'll relocate it, not a problem.))
Dixie was in the kitchen baking yet another batch of Christmas cookies. "Merry Christmas Baby" was blaring on the radio and she, her youngest son, and the rest of the kitchen, were covered in flour and sprinkles and red and green sugar. She'd invited everyone over for a decorating/tree trimming/cookie party at the house. She was excited and knew the kids were too, but a big part of her was depressed Tad wasn't home. Not having her husband around at Christmas wasn't a foreign concept, it had happened more often in recent years than not. But it still didn't hurt any less. All she could do was take comfort in knowing that on Christmas Eve when she and the kids were outside making a wish on their star, wherever he was he'd be doing the same thing.
Putting the cookie sheet in the oven she turned to Nolan who was bouncing around in his high chair to the music, and throwing sugar on some of the just frosted cutouts. "Oh you silly boy, you just couldn't wait for your sisters could you?", Dixie playfully scolded, brushing some flour off of her son's hair. Kathy had decided she and Tara were in charge of going through the giant box of Christmas decorations. See what was worth putting up this year. But she had a feeling she could use their help in the kitchen for the moment. "Kathy!!! You and Tara want to help decorate cookies?", she called, knowing the other guests would be here soon and pretty sure they'd want some snacks when they arrived.

Meanwhile at the chandler home upstairs in the bedroom the sound of water is heard. Obviously someone is taking a shower but is it JR or Marissa thats the question. After a few minutes the sounds of the water slowly subsides... Several moments later Marissa comes out of the bathroom with a fluffy pink towel tied around her body and a white towel around her hair. She makes her way over to the floor length mirror and removes the towel from her head before she flips her hair forward and begins to rub the towel through her hair to dry it. When she tosses her head back her hair hangs in waves down her back and over her shoulders. She looks into the mirror and smiles abit as she begins to speak to herself.
"Hmm it could use some work but atleast I still have some wave in it so it wont take much to style it."
After saying those words Marissa heads over to the bed and slips off her towel revealing her lacy bra and matching panties. She soon goes about getting ready, it was freezing outside and everyone had agreed on casual for Christmas but she was still going to dress up a little. Sure she might wear Khakis but it would still be dressy. About 20 minutes later she is standing before the floor length mirror once more and now putting her necklace around her neck. Once she is done she smiles at her reflection as she speaks.
"Perfect..."

After she is done and even has her hair fixed in a half up and half down style. She gathers her purse and makes her way out of the room and heads down the hall to check on AJ to make sure he is dressed. Once she reaches his room she knocks on the door before she peaks inside as she begins to speak.
"AJ hunni are you almost ready we have to be at your grandma's soon."
She soon sees AJ putting on his pants, she giggles abit as she watches him for a moment. But then he turns around with that cute little grin as he speaks.
"I will be done in a moment'
She nods her head and closes the door before she heads downstairs towards the study. Once she reaches the study, she smiles abit as she sees JR standing by the fire place with his back to her. She soon sets her purse down before she makes her way across the floor. She soon slips her arms around his waist before she begins to speak in a soft voice.
"Hey handsome..."

JR was staring down at the fire, watching the logs burning away and feeling the warmth that they gave off. He was a bit lost in thought, thinking back over the past year, it had been a rough one. And just a couple months ago, he thought he either wouldn't make it to Christmas, or that this one would be his last. But now he had his life back. He had a future again, and could actually think about the next Christmas, or even one 10 years from now.
His thoughts were broken when he felt a warm arm slip around his waist, and heard the soft voice from behind him. He turned around and smiled as he looked at Marissa. "Hey yourself...you look beautiful" He said, taking in the outfit she had picked out for today.
"Merry Christmas Eve" He said looking behind her to see if AJ was coming. "Is AJ ready yet? "

"Hey yourself...you look beautiful"
Hearing him give her a compliment a blush creeps up on Marissa's cheeks. She gives him a small smile as she places her hands gently against his chest and looks up into his blue eyes before she begins to speak in a soft sweet voice.
"Thank you and you look very handsome today as well hun..."
After saying those words she slides her hands up until her arms rest around his neck. She gives him another smile as he begins to speak once more..
"Merry Christmas Eve..."
That makes her smile, it was there second Christmas together, and they didnt have to worry about weather or not it would be his last. Because they new they had a life time of christmas's left and she couldn't wait to spend each and every one of them with him.
"Merry Christmas Eve to you as well hun..."
She says those words in a soft sweet voice while keeping her eyes locked on his blue ones. She allows her fingers to drift slowly over the back of his neck while giving him a small smile, but after a moment the spell is broken as he speaks...
"Is AJ Ready yet..."
"Oh I checked in on him he said he will be down in a few minutes he was almost ready. He was just putting on his pants and everything. Hmmm have I told you today that I love you... *smiles* If I haven't well then allow me to tell you I love you JR..."

Kathy had been off and on with being in the Christmas spirit this year, with her dad gone, and her memories almost all back, she’d wanted to spend this year with her family. She had taken to calling his phone every second night and leaving messages on it about her day, her sisters and brothers and how everyone missed him. However now that Christmas was closing in, she knew she had to do her best to accept that he wasn’t coming home, which was why the Christmas tree decoration party idea had been the best thing to happen.
“No... that’s my family ornament,” she explained to her younger sister as they pulled out the context of a box. “See? It says Kathy.” She pointed at her name that was written in the middle of the tree. “Daddy gave it to me when I still lived with Aunt Julia.” Tara seemed to kind of understand and carefully put the ornament down, which made Kathy smile and lean into the box pulling out another one. “This is yours, and Nolan’s should be - ” She was peeking back inside the box when her mom shouted to her and Tara about cookies.
“Cookies!” she exclaimed and jumped to her feet. “Yes we do! We’re coming mommy!” Taking her sister by the hand she carefully led her into the kitchen where she stopped and stared at the huge mess that surrounded them. “Uh... oh. Did Nolan do this?” She glanced at her baby brother as he continued to put sugar on the cookies. “What cookies can we decorate?” She moved over to the table, looking at the trays of cookies all laid out, before glancing up at her mom. “Can we have one now, please?”

"Yeah he played a part.", Dixie chuckled, her arms crossed as she raised a brow at her giggling son. "It's okay though, cookie making can get a little messy sometimes. And your grandma Ruth can back me up on that.", she smiled as Kathy walked over toward the cookies. Meanwhile Tara stood in place, away from the table. "Aw c'mon Tinkerbell. You're allowed to help too." Picking her up, she set her down in her high chair right in front of a cookie sheet loaded up with cutouts. "All the ones on the sheets here need some frosting and some sprinkles so have at it!" Dixie encouraged, turning to take the last tray out of the oven right as Kathy asked for a cookie. Complete with puppy dog eyes and a hopeful little smile. "Well, I dunno...you think it's okay?", she teased asking the twins, as Nolan yelped and clapped his hands enthusiastically. "Alright looks like he's all for it. Fine, sunshine you can have one cookie. Maybe two if we get these finished before everyone shows up." Dixie winked, setting the cookie sheet on the countertop to cool before taking a seat at the table with her kids. "So am I allowed to help too?", she asked getting a giggle out of Nolan, but an overwhelmed look from Tara. Prompting her to pull her littlest girl onto her lap and help her ice a cookie. "So did you and Tara put aside the best ornaments? I know we had a whole bunch you two had to look through.", she said, realizing after she'd lugged up the boxes how many they actually had. Bouncing Tara a bit on her lap, she helped her reach for the green sugar and sprinkle some on one of the cookies.

“Was Grandma Ruth a messy cookie maker?” Kathy asked curiously as she continued looking around the messy kitchen. When her mom spoke to her sister, Kathy turned and noticed her standing by the door and for a moment worried something was wrong. The worry didn’t last as her mom picked up her sister and placed her in her highchair in front of the cookies.
“We cant miss one of them,” she agreed, as she was told that all of them needed sprinkles and frosting. However, the question of having one even before the guest arrived came up and she continued to give her mom doe eyes until she’d agreed. “Please?” She put her hands together, glancing at her brother and sister before jumping up and down as Nolan clapped. Her eyes lit up as soon as it was confirmed she could have a cookie, and maybe a second when the others arrived.
“Thank you mommy!” she exclaimed and glanced over the table trying to pick out her cookie. She found one that was a star and started in on it. Once her mom was seated at the table, Kathy took her own spot beside her and nodded when they were asked if she could help them. “You have to help us, mommy. Because your cookies are always the best.” Picking out some of the icing and sprinkles she wanted, Kathy started to shake some on her cookies before stealing a lick of icing off her finger.
“We found all the best ones, even the one daddy got me,” she told her with a grin. “Everyone has their own ornament, right? Do you think daddy would be mad if we hung his up?” She continued with decorating her cookies before glancing at the time. “When are the guests coming? Should we call them?”

"Your grandma Ruth, messy? No way.", Dixie scoffed. "However she did have to bake with your daddy and your Uncle Jake. And I think their messiness was a little contagious." Grinning when Kathy grinned at her, Dixie blushed at her compliment. "Oh thank you, I'm glad to hear it." Listening as her daughter went on about the ornaments, her smile faded only slightly when she mentioned Tad. Pushing her emotions down though, she answered. "No sunshine, I don't think he'd be mad at all. Especially not with you." After Dixie helped the twins out with their cookies, and Kathy finished her's, when she asked if they should call, the older blond bit her lip. "Hmm, they should be here soon I would think. But if you'd like to give them a call I'm sure everyone at the mansion would love to hear your voice.", she said honestly, gathering up the trays with the cookies and setting them on the counter so the icing could dry. "If they do show up though, tell them the kitchen is off limits til it's clean! Gosh this place is a mess.", Dixie groaned as she started cleaning up the floured/sugared table. Rolling her eyes as the twins giggled at her. "Ha ha ha..you're just having so much fun watching Mommy clean up. Wait til you two are old enough to help!"

“Do you think Nolan caught the messiness bug too?” Kathy asked, glancing at her younger brother who was still putting sprinkles everywhere. “Did he catch it from daddy?!” She grinned back at her mom, and nodded enthusiastically. “Your chocolate chip cookies! No nuts. Uncle Jamie was telling me about them a long time ago, back when we thought you were gone, and I was with Aunt Julia.” She could remember that day quite well, when her dolls hat and dress had fallen off.
“Are you sure he wont be mad?” she asked, wanting to be very sure. “It’s just that daddy likes to put his up, and I like to put mine up to, so I don’t want him to be upset if he comes home and it’s on the tree.” She was sure her dad loved that part the best, it was one of her favourite parts of Christmas, just having her own ornament that she could look at. As they finished up the rest of the cookies she’d asked about the guests and when they’d get there, or if it’d be a good idea to call.
“I can call them!” she offered getting up off her chair and heading towards the door of the kitchen. Pausing as her mom continued to speak she nodded slowly. “They cant go in until the kitchen is all clean! Okay, mommy.” She glanced around the kitchen for a moment and then quickly made her exit, going to the front room and getting the phone. She dialled the mansions number, and waited, hoping someone would answer, if not so she could tell them to come, but at least for her not to help with the cleaning..
