Angie knew that look all too well. “You okay?” She teased when all he did was stare at her like she was a piece of meat. Giggling at the thought she rolled her eyes towards the heaven when he came from the little trance. “You’re alive, but judging from that look you’re giving me it wasn’t all that easy,” she hinted.
“Well, baby… I have the touch,” she teased following behind him and later easing onto his lap. “The kids know that they can give you one look and they can practically get away with murder. With me it isn’t that easy. I know their tricks so well I can write a book. Frankie and Cass were the very same way and even now they get like that,” she explained, cupping his chin. “You just have to learn how to tell those cute little babies no and mean it.”
“I figured this much,” Angie sighed, relaxing in his lap. “Let me just say I am so sorry for accusing you of not caring. That was wrong of me and I shouldn’t have said it. That thought shouldn’t even have ran through my mind. And… Even though I was steaming mad at you I shouldn’t have stayed out the way I did and made you and the kids worry. Especially with the date. You know? Last year this time we were in hell and didn’t know if we would make it out. It’s been a year since then and wounds are still fresh and by me staying out late and not calling I know it was like adding salt to those wounds.” She stared into his eyes and gave him a soft smile. “I’m sorry and I promise it won’t happen again,” she vowed.

“That’s easy for you to say. You’ve been doing this longer than I have. I only have what 5years under my belt with Frankie and Natalia I was hardly around.” He admitted sadly wishing things could have been different. Wishing he could take those years back and do things differently, with both Frankie and Natalia. Jesse took his wife’s hand at the thought of the missing years and brought them to his lip. “I love you. You know that right?” He asked. Jesse had no doubt that her answer would be the same as always, but he still just had to let her know that.
Jesse opened his mouth to start the conversation when she beat him to it and said she was sorry. He was stunned to say the least. He didn’t think it would have just rolled off her tongue the way it did. “Wow.” He whispered just staring at her.“I pictured this conversation and this wasn’t what I saw.” He said honestly tighten his hold around her waist. “I mean I do accept your apology, but this is still a bit of a shock.” When his wife gave him a pout and playfully struck his chest he chuckled and leaned into her neck. “I’m sorry about that and I’m sorry about the other day and the other night.”
He pulled back and started into her eyes. “I’m sorry for getting you all riled up. I should have listened when you said you weren’t ready to talk just yet. I should have held off on that conversation a little while longer. But when I spoke to Frankie and heard the way that boy sounded I just figured it was time. Obviously I should have thought about it some more.” He was apologizing for coming at her the way he did and for some of things he said, but he wasn’t taking his comment back about Les. Not at the moment because even though she hadn’t stooped to the very level of Les, she was starting to show her colors.
"Also I shouldn’t have raised my that night. Like I said then I was just worried about you. Especially when you didn’t return my calls. I started thinking about that night I tried calling you and all I could get was your voicemail and I was afraid that it happened again.” Jesse closed his eyes and sighed. He had really tried to not let his mind go back there but that night he had and just thinking, picturing his wife like that again scared him to his core. “Listen I know when you get really upset you need to get away for a bit, clear your head and baby I have no problem with that. None at all, because more than anything I don’t want you stressing. But just promise me this one thing.. I don’t care how mad you are at me let me know that you are alright. If you don’t want to hear the sound of my voice then text me and let me know you are alright and I promise to back off.”

Angie smiled at Jesse and nodded. “I know you do and I love you too,” she said leaning in and planting her lips against his forehead. When Jesse flipped those eyes of his to her when he spoke just seconds ago she saw how much it saddened him to not have been in his children’s lives. Even though he was protecting them and had their hearts at his best interest it still pained him. This much Angie could tell without a doubt. Taking a hand from his grasp she cupped his chin. “Hey! I don’t want you worrying about those missing years. It’s all in the past and what matters the most, what will always matter is that you’re here with us now. You have the chance to learn everything you didn’t now. And you’ll have a great teacher to teach you these things too,” she hinted.
After apologizing to her husband and meaning it from the bottom of her heart, all he had to say was wow? Dropping her hands to her hips she gave him a look. “Jesse, I…” She was cut off by Jesse’s words of surprise that it hadn’t taken much to her to say what she just shared with him. Rolling her eyes towards the heaven and striking his chest, she later crossed her arms. “I know how to not be difficult all of the time,” she teased. “Jesse!” She giggled, feeling his lips on the column of her neck.
“No, it’s okay,” she said, running her finger along the collar of his t-shirt. “You were only trying to help me see things. Trying to help Frankie in the only way you knew how. Even knowing that I snapped at you and I shouldn’t have.” Angie hadn’t heard him say anything about the Les comment and had begun to wonder if Jesse had forgotten about it or was he just not taking it back because it was true. The very thought of herself becoming the female version of her father scared her and made her think about a lot of things. Like the promise she made to Frankie when they got him back that she wouldn’t do what to him or any of her children what her father did to her. Thought about how much it hurt her back then that her father just couldn’t accept Jesse and understand he made her happy. Just like you can’t understand that Madison just may make Frankie happy, a little voice said. But just like she couldn’t understand that she also couldn’t shake that feeling of one day getting a call from him saying that Madison left him or worse, getting a call from PVPD telling her that her son had been killed.
Angie let the thoughts roll when she heard Jesse say promise him something. “Alright,” she said softly. “I promise from now on I’ll let you know that I’m alright… at least for the sake of my babies,” she teased. After sharing a good laugh and a few quick, teasing kisses Angie pulled back. “I’m glad that we talked because I don’t know how much longer I would have been able to keep going on like nothing happened.”
