Adam thought long and hard about what to do with Chandler Enterprises, and he finally came to a decision, that would affect his son, and his grandson in a big way, but he needed to let JR know what he was planning to do, so he had called JR earlier that morning and asked him to meet him in the Board room, because he needed to discuss the business with him. Chandler Enterprises was still rightfully his, and he was planning on making a big change. He arrived early, and went into the Board room, and sat down at the table.
He then began to think on how JR was going to react to his decision, but he felt like that he was making the best decision for his family, and he had hoped that JR would understand, and if he didn't then he would understand later on. His son's cancer was also a big factor into his decision, and he was going to stick with it, no matter how his son felt about it.

JR wasn't sure what the meeting was that his father wanted him to come to. Since his father left town, JR had been running the company, so maybe Adam just wanted an update on how things were doing, but there was something in the back of his mind telling him that there was more to it than that. Since his father had found out about the cancer he had been treating him differently. In truth, everyone had. JR made sure his tie was straight and he was dressed professionally heading into the board room. He was going to show his father that nothing would stop him from being the Chandler man he was supposed to be. He could handle the sickness, his family and the company.
Walking into the board room JR saw that Adam was already there. "So what's this about?" He asked his father.

"JR" Adam said as he stood from his chair, and greeted his son with a hug, and then JR asked the question that Adam was sick to his stomach about, but he knew that he needed to answer him honestly, and not hold back what he needed to say. "Have a seat son" Adam said as he sat down in the chair, and looked over to his son, who seemed confused on why he called him down here for a meeting. "Alot has been going on with you, and your health, agreed?" he asked, as he got a nod from his son. "And you have had alot on your plate with your health, your son, and this business.." Adam said as he then looked down. "JR, I have went over the financial situation of this company, and we are struggling to keep it up" Adam said as he finally was getting to his point of this meeting.
"I can tell that this company is weighing down on you, and you can hide it all you want with your tie and suit, and I appreciate you coming in here to appear strong for me, but you listen to me son. You do not have to be strong for me. You are trying to beat cancer, so instead of being strong for everyone else, be strong for yourself for once. What I am trying to get at, is...I am selling Chandler Enterprises. You, and AJ will be financially set with this deal, and AJ can grow up and do what he wants to do, instead of dealing with this company and my mistakes. There is no discussion, and their is no changing my mind about this. I am selling this company to Greenlee Smythe, because she is business savvy, and I know that she can run this company just like she has ran Fusion. I have already talked to her, and she has agreed to run this company, and keep the staff on. JR, that means that you are free from this company, and you no longer have to bare the responsiblity any more." Adam concluded as he looked down once more.

JR listened to what Adam told him in complete shock. It was almost like a dream, where nothing made sense, or a bad joke that he didn't understand the punch line. He kept waiting for Adam to say something different instead, that maybe he had heard wrong and he was selling a share to Greenlee to help out or she would be a member of the board but Adam didnt change his story. He was actually thinking he would sell the company.
JR stood up, slamming his hands down on the table in front of them. "You've got to be kidding me!" He yelled at his father. "You are not selling this company. This company is our family's legacy and I will not let you take that away from me or AJ. I am keeping it afloat just fine for him, we had a few rough months but things are looking up. You left this place when you ran off with Brooke, I've been in charge and I will not let you take it away from me now. The only person who will EVER take over for me is my son when I give it to him" JR told his father, feeling the fire inside of him. At that moment he didnt even feel like the cancer could beat him because he'd have to fight that off to keep the company for his son.
"I will not let you sell this company, and if you think the board members will let you after I've spoken with them, you've got another thing coming. " JR said feeling furious. He started shaking his head. "You think this is for me, but this is the worst thing you could do to me. You take it from me now, then you might as well be putting a knife in my back to kill me. "

"JR, I have already talked to the board about it, and they are in agreement with me. You need to learn to let this company go, for you and your son's sake. The board also thinks that you are no longer capable of running this company, espicially since you are sick, and quite frankly JR, I feel the same way, and with me still being CEO of this company, I have every right to sell it, and their is not a damn thing you can do about, so just let it go" Adam said as he stood up, and looked into his son's eyes. "I am sure your mother would atleast agree with me on this issue. But, like I said before this is not a discussion. It is my company, and I will do as I damn please with it, do I make myself clear, JR?" Adam asked, as he walked around the table, and faced his son head on. "If this means that you are going to hate me for a long time, then so be it, but I will not jeopardize your health for this business." Adam said when he then looked away, and noticed that Barry, his lawyer had walked in unannounced. "Yes, Barry?" he asked as he looked around his son, and over to his lawyer.
"I got the papers for you to sign, and after you sign them, it is already done. I got Greenlee's signature already, Adam" Barry said as he walked over to Adam and handed him the papers. "Thank you Barry. You can go now. I will get these papers to you by the end of the day" Adam said, as Barry then walked out of the meeting room. "Our family business is over. Now you either can face that fact and move on, or you can allow yourself to wallow in it, and drink yourself to oblivion. It's your choice, JR. What's it going to be?"

"Let the company go? This isn't like you, everything you always taught me was about keeping this company alive, keeping the Chandler legacy at any cost. I was bred for this position and I've done it justice. " JR said confidently. "The only thing you've ever done for me as a father was give me a position with this company, if you take it away, from me, from AJ? I just can't....you're no father to me. You're not family, you're nothing to me anymore. "
JR watched Barry walk in giving the Adam the papers that would make it official. JR waited for him to leave. "Sign those, and don't ever speak to me again, or expect to see your grandchild, because you've just destroyed his future" He told his father, ready to part ways. He and Adam had conflicts before but the company had been something to keep them together, now he couldn't see what would be left. He didn't know how to build something new now, when he may only have months left to live. He had promised AJ that all of this would be his, and now his father was making a liar out of him. That was unforgiveable.
"Don't do this....if not for me, for AJ...let Greenlee help, make her a board member, you yourself can help me now but don't sell it, dont give away AJ's future. Don't sign this, telling me you don't think I'll live to keep the company going til he can take over"

"JR, I am doing this for you, and for AJ" Adam said as looked from his son and then to the legal documents. He took his pen, and signed where he needed to and then dropped the pen. "This was the hardest decision that I have ever had to make, but it was done out of love for you, and for my grandson, and if that means that you hate me, then so be it." Adam said as he walked to the doors, and then stopped. He turned slowly, and looked to see his son, who was obviously very upset over what he had just done. "Don't let this bring you down JR. You need to focus on your health now. This company is no longer your problem nor mine" Adam said as he walked over to his son.
"I love you JR, and I always will, but this had to be done" Adam said as he then turned back around and walked to the door and opened them, as he let himself out, closing the door behind him, leaving JR in the board room by himself.

"You are a selfish fool who wouldn't know how to be a good father if your life depended on it" JR said shaking his head, feeling as if he had just been stabbed in the back by his own father. There were so many other times in his life when he had screwed up, made mistakes personally or business wise that would have warranted his father taking the company away, but now his only mistake was something out of his control. A disease that struck him weak, and the fact he had let anyone know about it. He felt powerless, and angry that his father would use that against him.
"If you had loved me, you would have offered to help at Chandler, not give away the one thing you always promised was mine, the one thing I promised my son would be his when he got older" He said watching Adam start to walk away. "I will never forgive you" He told him before his father walked out.
