Long after Marian went to get her X-rays and Angie received them as well as part of her results, Angie headed back to her room. She knocked on the door, so as not to interrupt anything, and later walked in. “Hey, I do apologize for the wait. We’re a bit short staffed today.”
After a minute Angie took a seat in front of mother and daughter. “Well of course I have your test results. Now I had an inkling idea of what the problem may have been, but I like to be 100% sure before I go throwing diagnosis around,” she explained before she looked down at her chart. “Marian, with the symptoms you described to me earlier, coupling with my discovery from your exam earlier, what you have is Anaphylaxis, also known as an severe allergic reaction…”
“It could have come from anything. Rarely pollen, but it has been seen. Food, any type of medication you may be on, insect bite or sting. It could have been a number of things. We can’t really pin-point it at this very moment,” she continued as she looked up. “What’s happened is you came in contact with either of what I named and the substance that was released you could have been allergic to it and it has made your immune system sensitive to it.
She waited a beat before delivering the last bit of news. “If this is not treated quickly and properly it can be… fatal.”

"Oh..." was all the words that she could form out of her mouth. It didn't seem to bad, but the fatal part, was what got her. She then looked over to Liza, and smiled abit. "It doesn't seem to be as bad as I thought.." she said as she then looked over to Angie. "Ever since Stuart died, I really haven't wanted to live, but I have found my purpose. I know why I am suppose to live for now, and that is because of my beautiful daughter" she said as she looked back to Liza. "And my beautiful granddaughter, and grandson. I have so much to live for, Angie" she said as she then sat up, and looked down for a few moments.
"So, whatever it takes, make me well, Angie. I will follow your instructions. Just tell me that it's not too late. Please tell me that I can be here for my family, for a long time." she said as she looked up to Angie. Her eyes meeting Angie's. "Please.."

Liza was glad to hear that Angie knew what was going on, but it scared her to know that this could possibly kill her mother. "But you can treat it, right, Angie?" she asked, her eyes pleading for the doctor to tell her yes.
She then took her mother's hand. "You will be around, Mom. Colby & Stuart are going to have you in their lives for many more years to come. This is just a road block, but we'll get around it... together," she promised, giving Marian a reassuring nod.

Angie glanced down at the chart while mother and daughter talked, then once silence covered them she looked back up. Deciding to answer Liza’s question. “Yes we can treat it. We have a kit made specifically for people with this. It’s called an epinephrine kit, also known as an emergency anaphylaxis treatment kit. When she feels an attack coming along this will definitely help her.”
“Marian I’m going to set you up with an allergist, possibly as soon as this afternoon to see what may have had a hand in this. Once all the necessary information has been found we are going to work together to help you go on through your life without this becoming fatal. Let’s say if it’s a certain medication your previous doctor prescribed and it’s a must you take it, then we will work with that and do our best to find something else for you to take.”
“Either way he or she will find out the source of this.”

"I know Liza" Marian said as she squeezed her hand and then let go. She then turned her attentions to Angie. "Well, I guess that is good, because we can treat it, right?" she asked, as she then got a nod from the doctor. "Good, well atleast we have a treatment plan going, and we can go from their" she said as she stood up off from the bed, and looked to Liza. "Well, I guess you can go now, darling." she said as she pulled her into a hug, and then looked over to Angie. "Just give me a call, and let me know when my appointment with the allergist is. I just don't want to have to wait around all day, you know?" she said as she shook her hand.
"I will talk with you, later Angie" she said as she walked out with Liza. "I will call you later and tell you what the allergist has said, okay?" she said as she kept walking with her daughter.
