Krystal had a great time living outside of Pine Valley but she had missed her friends a lot. One of those great friends being Angie Hubbard the wonderful doctor at Pine Valley. They had been close before she left and Krystal hoped that she would join her for lunch after she left a message earlier that morning. She had a lunch break from Jack's law office between twelve and one so when she got to the Yacht Club it was only six minutes into her break.
"I believe I am meeting a friend so I will need a table for two." The host seated her on the lower level of the deck and she looked over the menu. She was getting excited to see Angie but she also wondered if she had gotten the message. Either way she was going to have lunch but she hoped she would share it with Angie. She looked up and saw the doctor and Krystal waved. "Hi Angie! You look great honey! I am so glad you could meet me for lunch!"

When Angie came into her office after checking up on a patient she saw she had a message on her phone. And not just any message. One from her friend, Krystal who was inviting her to lunch. She’d been shocked because she hadn’t heard from her or seen her in quite sometime. And the only time she heard about Krystal was when she and Tad talked and he mentioned he went by to see her and Jenny. Anyway, feeling it time they did some catching up she made up in her mind she was definitely meet her at the Yacht Club.
Now, here she was walking in. She was about to go to the hostess when she looked up and saw Krystal waving. “Never mind. I see her.” She informed the hostess who seemed to step up, maybe getting ready to ask if she could assist her.
“Hey honey!” Angie gave Krystal a hug. “Thank you. You’re looking wonderful yourself. And I would have been crazy to not come,” Angie said as she took a seat across from her. “It’s been awhile since we’ve last talked. I feel bad for not keeping in contact with you like I should or coming out to see about you and Little Jenny.”

"Well you are not the only one with a phone or a computer..or even a pen and paper." Krystal sighed knowing that she did not try hard to keep in touch with anyone when she left. "Although it was kind of nice to have a break from this place. Not you but this town in general. When I left I had the whole David mess weighing on me and it gave me time to find myself and do what I had to do to make it back here being the best mother and employee and person I can be."
"What have you been up to? I know it has been ages since I have seen you! You look very happy though Angie. Something is different..and it looks to me that life has been treating you well."

Krystal was right, but still Angie should have made some attempts to get back in contact with her. Especially once she was back on her feet and in tip-top shape. “Honey, that is understandable. You know I saw first hand what they devil did to you. If it took you having to leave here to get your mind right, to find yourself again and be the woman that’s sitting in front of me today, then honey I am not mad at you. Not one bit. And neither is anybody else angry about that,” Angie assured. “Sometimes getting away, needing to just reassess everything, is the best thing in the world. It wasn’t like you were running away, you were just taking sometime to yourself. For you and your baby girl.”
Angie smirked when Krystal said she looked happy. “Well now… Yes it has been treating me well. Wonderful actually,” she said in an as a matter of fact tone. “Jesse and my kids are the reason. They’ve been just amazing since everything happened last year.” She was sure Krystal knew of the wreck, but then again she could have been wrong. “What have I been up to?” She asked herself. “Loving my family and probably hovering over my oldest a bit too much, as always. Falling more and more in love with Jesse, my baby girl, Jocelyn and our son, Adrian everyday. Working.”
“What about yourself?”

"Everything happened last year? What happened last year..if you don't mind my asking." Krystal looked at Angie not noticing anything different but then again she had not really looked for any changes. She had noticed a certain glow but maybe that had something to do with what happened.
"Okay..I was around for Jocelyn but you had another baby? Adrian? Gosh Angie..I guess you have had a busy year!" she said wrongly concluding that Angie was probably talking about something that happened with a her "new born" son.
"What about me? Well I am working for Jackson at the firm and Jenny is finishing up her last year of daycare before she starts pre-k. I cannot believe how fast she is growing up! But other than that nothing really. I guess I am just glad to be back home..especially for Jenny. She needs her father and her brother and sisters."

Angie was in the midst of drinking her ice cold water when Krystal asked her about the happenings of last year. Setting the glass down, she dapped her lips with the cloth napkin and cleared her throat. “Oh my,” she sighed. “I thou… I thought you were on the up and up about everything that was happening,” she started. Angie started there because she had to figure out how she was going to explain everything to her. “God… I’m sorry, I just…” She shook her head.
Laughing, when she teased about her being busy she shook her head. “No, no, it’s not like that. Really! Okay, I guess I’ll start from the beginning. Adrian, is Jesse’s and I adopted son,” she cleared up as she grabbed her wallet from her purse and removed a picture of him and Ari. “He’s actually four now, he’ll be five in August,” she said proudly. “And it just happened. You know? One day, one of the officers walked into the station with a kid all by himself and once I laid eyes on him, I felt a connection. Of course everybody knows once I feel that connection there’s just no letting go. So after having to go through something’s to secure him, all that red tape with foster care and searching for his real parents, we finally put his adoption into motion.”
“Right after the papers were signed Cass and I were involved in an… an accident. Head on collision with a 18-wheeler. It nearly claimed my life,” she started to explain. Thinking about it was never really easy for Angie, but then she would also think about how far she’d come, how all the odds were stacked up against her yet she here she was. Stronger and wiser than ever. She and Jesse came out swinging.
“They weren’t sure I was going to make it… And to be honest, they nearly lost me. I uh… had a heart attack on the table which was the cause of me being put on life support.” She looked down and braided her hands. “They said the chances of me surviving after that was very slim, but I did… I then fell into a coma after that and though it was still very risky they kept the faith. I fought for my life for three whole weeks, but as you can see I didn’t give up and neither did my doctors, my husband, my family and friends,” she expressed, she could hear how her voice crackled but that so beyond her control. She wanted to give them all the world for being there for her and her family in their times of need. To this day she still hadn’t come up with a proper way to show them just how much she appreciated them for all they done.
Raising her head, she smiled weakly at Krystal. “Last year was a pretty tough year for the Hubbard family. But we learned from it. We’ve grown a lot, together since then. Became stronger. Jesse and I have started to fall more and more in love with one another. If even possible,” she said with a giggle. “We’re doing something we neglected to do before… Not taking the simplest things in life for granted. Jesse and I were brought back together for a reason and this was a way of showing us what for. Before that I was working like crazy, battling some demons, not letting him in… But like I say we’ve moved past that.”
“Which is why you’re noticing I’m extra happy.” Angie threw that in there to lighten up the mood.
“You’re working with Jackson?” Angie asked surprisingly. Erica hadn’t mentioned that to her. “Wow! That’s amazing.” Hearing about Jenny and how she was getting ready for pre-k, Angie placed a hand over her heart. “You know, in my head I still see this little baby girl getting ready to celebrate her first birthday. It’s so hard to see Jenny in school already or getting ready.” She shook her head. “Gawd! It is amazing how they grow up so fast. You turn your head and they are ready to walk through the school doors.”
Angie smiled. “You’re moving back for good. Well I think that’s wonderful. Weird not having you and Jenny around. I know Jesse will be happy to hear that Jenny Jr is coming back. Now he can get back to spoiling her like he wants… So, have you found a place yet?”

"Oh!" Krystal chuckled at her own mistake before looking at the pictures. "He is gorgeous Angie! And he is lucky to have you and Jesse now. I don't know what kind of life he had before but he has got you guys and Ari and Cass..Frankie! He must be lovin' it!"
Krystal then listened to Angie tell her what happened and grabbed her hand. "God Angie that is awful! If I had known you have to know I would have been back here in a heartbeat! I am so glad though that you are okay..and so happy. I always knew you were strong but this just further proves my point!"
"I..uh..I am not sure if Jack told Erica. I haven't seen her at the office at all though and I assume she would be down there gawkin' at me by now if she knew I was there." Krystal shook her head.
"I am really glad to be back Angie. I know that it is what Jenny and I both needed. And I am sure she would love to meet Adrian some time and see Jesse and Ari and you! Now I remember what I have been missing out on!" The redhead smiled to herself. "Yes..just a little cottage near Ryan Lavery's place but it is the perfect size for Jenny and I..we even have a little backyard..it is cozy."

Angie smiled. “He’s just a ball of fun. Now at first he wouldn’t get close to anybody but me and Ari. There was like a minute of awkwardness between them two before they just fell for each other. Been inseparable every since. Let’s see, after awhile he started warming up to Jesse and Cass and though it took a lot of time he warmed up to Frankie.” She chuckled and shook her head at that memory. “At times when Frankie would come over he would groan and cut his eyes. He couldn’t stand Frankie and for life of us we couldn’t figure out why.”
Waving her friend off, indicating it was alright Angie smiled at her. “I know Krystal. Really I do know that you would have been here. During that time everybody was going through a lot and then that came along, just added on. And Jesse, bless his heart was going through hell of his own he was hardly thinking straight, so.” She shook her head at that memory as well. From what people had told her Jesse had been totally out of his element. “Like I know had you known you would have came… And you are just too much. Thank you!”
“Why would she do that?” Angie asked curiously. Erica hadn’t mentioned anything to her about having problems with Krystal’s, if she did she couldn’t recall. “I’m sure Erica knows. She’s just trusting you all. She knows that everything is alright and knows you both are just colleagues. Nothing more. I’m sure of that.”
When Krystal mentioned that she was so glad to be home and mentioned her Adrian she smiled. “I think she and Adrian will get along just fine. Who knows they mind end up going to same school together.” She then heard her mention the new place they were living in. “Was that it’s cozy in a good way, I love it. Or it’s cozy but eh, it’ll do for now?” Angie asked curiously. She knew first hand the hell that people went through trying to move. When she moved back to PV she wasn’t sure if she would ever find a place of her own, thought she would have to stay with Tad and Krystal longer than need be. She was and still is grateful for them for putting up with her and her family at that time, but when she moved out she was happy. She had a place to call her own… And Frankie’s and Jesse’s.

"You know that is kind of how Jenny was with Marissa but now she talks about her all the time! I cannot get over how much they love each other now." Krystal shook her head hoping that her daughters would see each other again soon because they would both be so happy she was sure of it.
"Oh Jesse must have been heartbroken. I cannot wait to see him! I bet he will look just as happy as you do! You two have been through so much together but I cannot picture a stronger couple!"
"You know I thought we were okay too but before I left town she was back to her old self. It is not so much that she doesn't like me because I honestly do not are about that! But it is..the way she looks at me. Like she is so much better because she has money..maybe she wears better clothes and wakes up looking gorgeous but that does not make her any better than me." Krystal sighed and then shook her head. "I am sorry..I guess it bothers me more than I thought. We just got along so well in Africa but she must have forgotten about that."
"It is nice..for now. I can live there for a while. Maybe not forever but for a while. I would love to be able to get a bigger house so I can have Jenny's friends over and prove to people like Erica that she is not right. I am just as good as she is. Especially at being a mother to my little girl."

Hearing her comment about her and Jesse about being a strong couple, made Angie smile shyly. “Thank you, Krystal. Really that means so much to me.”
Angie picked up her glass of water and nodded when Krystal began to talk about she and Erica’s relationship or the lack of. When she all but started going off about her new friend, words about Erica not being totally like that was on the tip of her tongue. “I will admit there was a time I thought the same about Erica,” Angie admitting putting her glass down. “I thought she looked down on everybody who was not up there with her. Thought she was this untouchable thing… But really she’s just like us.” When Krystal opened her mouth to say something else she held up her hand. “Let me explain… Erica is… Okay, she can be like that at times, but under all of that and behind that wall she built around herself, is a woman who just wants, more like needs a close friend. Somebody who she can come and just talk too, somebody she can trust. I don’t know her whole-whole story, because number one I could careless about what the magazines printed and truthfully magazines live to tell lies about people. But what I do know about Erica Montgomery is that she’s a genuine human being, whose been hurt more times than she cares to share and doesn’t know how to fully accept anyone. Doesn’t know when somebody is being real with her and not just trying to play her, as the kids these days say. I’m not saying that just because she’s my best friend. Trust me if she was that way I would be honest about it. You’ve known me awhile and know I don’t hold anything back about my feelings towards others.”
“Guess that along with my stubbornness is something I inherited from my father,” she teased.
“I understand you want a bigger house, trust me when we were in the loft I loved it but when Jesse bought us a house I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Just the thinking about all the things that could be done had my wheels going.” Angie smirked. “Again the loft was lovely, but I always pictured myself in a house raising my little girl and just living out the rest of my life with my Jesse…”
“I say that to say this, when you move again and find a beautiful new home don’t get it just to prove to people like, what you believe Erica is like, that you can be like them or better. Don’t get it to raise eyebrows and gain points with the high-mighty club… No, you get that house because you want it. You get it to show your baby girl that nothing in this world is too much for her. That her happiness and her well being is the most important thing, the only thing that matters to you. You get that house for you and her and nobody else.” Angie sat up a bit. “And don’t try to prove to others that you can be what they are or better… No, forgive me, but battling with them on something like that is low and you are better than that. I know you are,” she instilled in her. “Don’t compare yourself to anybody. You be the woman you were put on the earth to be. You be the mother Jenny expects you to be, look up to as her shero.”
"That should be your only focus."

"Wow..I guess you really have gotten to know her." Krystal looked at Angie and could see the look on her face. "I have to tell you though that I thought she had changed once too. I guess though if you trust her maybe I should put my armor down and be at least civil. If she needs a friend then I am glad she has you because you are the best of the best."
"You are right though Angie. I should not be trying to prove I am better than Erica or anyone else. I should be proving that I am the best mom I can be to Jenny. If I cannot have anymore kids then I want to give Jenny the very best of everything and when I find the perfect house I am going to jump on it. As long as it has a big kitchen and a big backyard for her to play in then that is all that matters to me." Krystal smiled thinking about how much Jenny would love that.
"So if you don't mind do you want to share how you and Erica got so close? I can tell by the way that you talk about her that you have that friendly love in your heart for that woman."

Angie smiled and shyly shrugged at Krystal’s comment. She wouldn’t say she was the best, but she was alright. But just knowing that her jump to defend her best friend may have changed her other best friend’s mind about her did manage to put a bigger smile on her face. And right about now Jesse would whisper in your ear, take off the superwoman cape. She chuckled inwardly at that thought and the fact that she knew oh so well, she looked up. “I completely understand about the kitchen and big backyard. By the time I was showing I was thinking about the small kitchen, the backyard or the lack of,” she scoffed and shook her head.
“I honestly don’t know what I would have done if we were still in the loft. With Jocelyn and Adrian’s need for speed and adventure. I would have ran myself ragged trying to kiddie proof that place.” She thought about that some more and shuddered. There would have been some incidents there. The kids had a habit of coming around the corner like speed racers and just barely missing the wall. With the house they had enough space to run as they pleased, though she wished they wouldn’t.
Slightly raising her lashes Angie gave her a soft smile when she asked about she and Erica’s friendship. “Actually I… It really started a couple of weeks after Jocelyn was born. I woke up that morning with intentions on doing nothing but relaxing with my baby girl. Then all of that changed. I got this urge to get up and go see Erica. I really couldn’t tell you what came over me except the fact that we lived in close range with each other, saw each other often and hardly spoke to one another. I guess I just got tired of it and I wanted to change it. I went by the Fusion and I guess you can say the rest is history.” Of course there was more, but she promised her dear friend she would keep everything to herself. Even if others knew her lips, to others who didn’t, remained sealed. When or if the time presented itself then Krystal would know all that happened on Erica’s part but until then… Angie was going to remain mute on certain things.”
“We did a double date and then she and Jackson came over for dinner one evening. I do believe thought that Jocelyn charmed them in some ways,” she teased thinking about how her little girl had opened up to Erica and Jackson with no problems what so ever. On occasion she would come into the room and ask about E-wica… Her R’s were nowhere near perfect.
“We bonded over time and the guys seemed to do so as well. I do recall Jesse, Jackson and Tad going out for drinks one evening. And of course when she had her dinner parties they got together and did their guy thing.” She shook her head. “And sometime ago, after the wreck she uh… well she and Jackson made Thaddeus and I the god parents of her their little one Colton. He’s just the sweetest little thing. He’ll be turning one soon as a matter of fact.”

"I guess I got lucky with Jenny then because she stays out of the cabinets for the most part. She gets into my make up but that really it. She likes to be outside playing with everything or inside playing with my make up. Funny little one she is. Babe was the one who got into everything!" Krystal laughed.
"Wow..I cannot believe that you guys are actually good friends. I just..I guess I am in shock!" Krystal smiled and let Angie finish her story.
"Wait a second..a little one? They..they had a baby? Erica Kane had a baby?" Krystal thought she might just be hearing things. "I..I guess she has really changed. The Erica I knew would never want another kid runnin around. I guess I have been away from Pine Valley longer than I thought! It is funny though because Jackson never mentioned that to me. But I guess I know who the baby all over his desk is now. I just thought it was Spike or Ian..wow!"

Angie could almost see Jenny doing her little makeup and primping her hair. Giggling she nodded in agreement with her friend. “Yea, you’re extra lucky. I must say I am a little jealous of you.”
“Yes, Erica Kane had a baby,” Angie repeated giving her friend a confused look which turned into a shocked to crap look. “Wait, you didn’t know?” Angie asked. It was pretty obvious the woman didn’t otherwise she wouldn’t have been shocked to hear the news.
“She has changed,” Angie said with a smile. And hearing that Jackson hadn’t mentioned anything about it had Angie wondering. She truly thought that Jackson would have told her seeing as she was working with him now and the chances of Erica coming over with the baby was pretty high. Angie started giving some thought into why he hadn’t said anything. She didn’t want to think the man kept mum about it on purpose so giving him the benefit of the doubt, having total faith in Jackson, Angie chalked it up to him being busy. And not having the chance to really sit and think about the fact that Krystal hadn’t been in town during the time of Erica’s first pregnancy. “You know, I’m sure it’s been so busy around that office that he probably hadn’t taken the time to sit and fill you in on the happenings of PV,” she replied.

"No I had no idea. I am in shock. She just..does not seem like the type. I guess she really did change." Krystal shook her head.
"It has been pretty busy and I never asked because I assumed that the pictures were his grand kids so I guess he must never have thought to really say anything. No wonder why he is out of the office as soon as possible everyday. I thought Erica would have him doing laps around the yard or something but I guess Daddy duty seems more logical!" Krystal kidded.
"Seems like I have really missed a lot around here but I am so glad I am back..and that I got to have lunch with the greatest doctor in Pine Valley!"
