Ready To Go Home (JR)

[Marissa Tasker]

It had been a long week since the bus accident and Marissa was growing anxious. Not only did she want to see her family and her friends and the man that she loves with all of her heart. But she wants to get out of this hospital so she can begin the healing process outside of the hospital. She knew she couldn't leave until they were ready to let her go home, but she kept feeling like if she stared at these walls too much longer then she was going to go crazy and that isn't going to be a good thing.

On this perticular day Marissa has been up since 6:30 in the morning when the nurse came through wanting to draw some lab work. She could tell that she had lost some weight due to eating the hospital food. If there was one thing that could ever make someone loose weight and that was getting stuck in the hospital and having to eat the nasty food that the hospital's serve.

Marissa looks around at the various bouquets of flowers that has been brought to her room. There were so many diffrent colors and it defintly brightened her room up. But they did nothing to brighten her spirits. She hasn't been allowed to get up and see any one and she was defintly getting tired of laying in this bed. After a morning a nurse soon makes her way into the room with her stethescope hanging around her neck. Marissa looks over at her and sighs abit as the nurse begins to speak...

"Well good morning Miss Tasker, and how are you feeling this wonderful morning..."

Marissa looks over at the soft spoke nurse for a moment before she clears her throat and begins to speak while brushing her hair from her face with her uninjured hand.

"I am feeling alot better then I did a week ago, I am just anxious to get out of this bed and go home. Is there any way that might be possible today."

The nurse looks at Marissa while checking her blood pressue with the blood pressure machine as she begins to speak.

"I'm not really sure that is up to your doctor and your therapist... Your therapist will be coming around today to get you up and get you walking around. And to also do some exercises with your arm as well. And I guess we will see how things go from there Miss Tasker."

Marissa makes a face as she looks at the nurse before she shakes her head and begins to speak.

"Well I can already tell thats going to be a bust I doubt there going to let me go home and if i have to keep stairing at these walls I'm going to absolutly nuts."

The nurse laughs abit as she looks at Marissa and gently pats her shoulder abit before she begins to speak in a soft voice while putting the vitals down on the chart.

"Dont worry Miss Tasker I think I heard from one of the nurses that your going to have a visitor today. So maybe having visitors will take your mind off everything and help you get through the stay until your discharged from the hospital."

The nurse moves over to her cart and checks through some things. She soon pulls out a new bag of fluids and various other things including a couple of shots that has been ordered for Marissa as the nurse speaks once more.

"Alright Miss Tasker, Doctor Martin has ordered you to have your flu shot, and also your phumonia shot as a booster to help you imune system so that you dont get sick. Also I'm going to hang a new bag of fluids and theres also a Antibiotic drip and then I will be out of your hair to let you rest until lunch, or watch tv which ever one you prefer.."

Marissa nods her head and watches the nurse move about doing everything that she needs to do including giving Marissa the two shots. She covers the places with band aids before she gathers everything and heads towards the door as she begins to speak.

"Have a good day Miss Tasker I will be back to check on you later. If you need anything dont hesitate to push your button ok."

Marissa nods her head and watches the nurse head on out of the room. She then turns her attention back to the tv until she hears a voice at her door which brings a smile to her beautiful face and causes her eyes to light up.

[JR Chandler]

The time since the bus accident had been difficult on JR, emotionally and physically. Just as his loved ones were brought back to the hospital, and needed him the most he had collapsed and been admitted himself. Everything had seemed like a whirlwind since then. The pneumonia (that he had really been feeling symptoms of for awhile beforehand but had tried to ignore the best he could) had kept him hospitalized the entire time that everyone else was in the hospital. He had discovered that his chemotherapy and radiation treatment had lowered his immune system enough that he was vulnerable to the pneumonia. For a few days they hadn't even allowed him visitors, as they were afraid of him contracting anything else and getting worse. But in the midst of everything, and fighting for his life, there was a huge silver lining. The doctors found that his cancer was now in remission. It was a huge blessing and a surprise for JR.

After weeks of fighting the pneumonia, JR was finally told that this afternoon he'd be able to be released, and that they'd allow him to visit other patients in the hospital while he waited for that (as long as he went in a wheelchair to give the nurses some assurances he wasn't over-exerting himself just yet.

He made a stop at the gift shop for a bouquet of flowers and went up to Marissa's room. He hoped she would understand why he hadn't been able to stop by more often. He felt incredibly guilty for not seeing her and the rest of his family more often.

He pushed open Marissa's hospital room door and wheeled himself in,smiling as soon as he saw her. "Feeling up for a visitor?" He asked her.

[ALIGN=center] Hearing his voice Marissa looked away from the window and gives him a small smile. She nods her head and allows her eyes to roam over him for a moment before she begins to speak in a soft voice.

"God yes I could defintly use some company... It's good to see you up and about? How are you feeling? I didn't really find out all the details about what was going on just bits and pieces here and there... You are ok right?"

She says those words in a soft voice while once again looking him over. It felt good to see him even if he was setting in a wheel chair. She soon gives him a dazzling smile before she begins to speak once more.

"I've missed you JR.... When you passed out in here you have no idea how scared I was... I thought that I was losing you... I was so upset that the nurses sedated me but that didn't stop me from trying to get out of bed to come and find you... Granted I didn't make it far but I've been so worried about you..."

She says those words in a soft voice, she soon reaches out her hand to him obviously wanting to feel him holding her hand. She needed to make sure seeing him in her room wasn't some kind of cruel joke. There was so many things she wanted to say to JR and she couldnt think of all of them. So once he gets closer and takes her hand in his she speaks.

"Guess what? They said I might be able to go home today... Granted I'm still healing so I would need to find someone to stay with because they dont want me to be on my own or what ever until I'm fully healed and out of this stupid cast..."

[JR Chandler]

JR nodded as she asked him if he was alright. "Yeah, I'm still fighting the remnants of the pneumonia but they no longer think I need to be in isolation and think I can finish resting at home. And the cancer...its in remission, at least for now" He told her with a smile, not knowing how much she had been able to hear through the grapevine before now. "I' m going to be just fine, prognosis is life this time" he said with a chuckle of disbelief that it was still really happening.

JR took her hand as she reached it out to him. "I've missed you too...I'm so sorry that I wasn't able to be here when you needed me" He apologized, still feeling incredibly guilty for having been gone when she and everyone needed him the most. "I wanted to be here with you every day...I had the nurses give me constant updates"

He smiled when she told him she might be able to go home. "That's great news! So you're feeling better then?" He asked still worried about her condition. "You don't need to find someone to stay with, you've got someone right in front of you if you'll say yes? Stay with me and AJ, I know we're not the best caretakers right now, but we can recover together and I've got a whole staff of people who can wait on you hand and foot until I'm fully able to do that. "

[Marissa Tasker]

"I'm so glad that your feeling better JR, you look so much better then you did that night you passed out in here. Your color is so much better, and your eyes look alot brighter too. Almost as if there twinkling everytime you smile..."

Then it dawns on her what he just said, did he really just say what she thought he said. She grips his hand a little tighter as she begins to speak once more.

"Oh my god JR did you just say what I think you did.... Did you just say that the cancer is in remission?"

When she sees him nod his head a smile graces her lips and she can feel her tears welling up in her eyes. This was something that she had wanted for him eveyr since the first day that she met him. Before she speaks the tears begin to slip slowly down her cheeks as she begins to speak.

"That is wonderful JR, I am so happy for you.... This is the one thing I've been praying for every since the first day that we met..."

She squeezes his hand once more and after a moment she hears him apologize once more for not being there when she needed him the most. Marissa looks over to him before she begins to speak once more....

"Shhhhh JR you dont have to apologize to me, you were sick and I understand that. I'm just so glad that your ok trust me I want to keep you around for a very long time and thank god thats exactly what I'm gonna do."

She says those words as she listens to him mention her coming to recouperate with him and AJ. She knew this would give her time to spend with JR and AJ and that defintly sounded like a good idea. She soon gives him a smile and nods her head before she begins to speak.

"You know something they always say the best medicine to help someone heal is being loved and being around the people they care about. So to answer your question I would love to come and stay with you and AJ...."

She looks at JR and gives him another smile, you can see just how she loves him by the way her eyes shine and her face lights up when ever they look at each other. She blushes abit and continues to keep her eyes locked on his. But the spell is soon broken when the nurse comes back into the room as she speaks.

"Miss Tasker... Oh I'm sorry I didn't realize you had company. I'm sorry to interupt but I need to give you your shots really quick I'm sorry I forgot to do it earlier. Also your therapist will be in shortly. And your doctor will be in after wards to let you know weather or not you can go home this afternoon."

Marissa nods her head and gives the nurse a small smile as the nurse comes over and begins to do what she had to do. Soon enough the nurse not knowing who JR is since she is new begins to speak.

"So are you the handsome young man that this young lady has been worried about?"

Hearing the nurse ask that question causes Marissa to blush and JR to smirk abit hearing what the nurse said. THe nurse continues to work while she awaits a answer from JR.

"I'm glad that you're feeling better too...I've been so worried about you" JR told her, knowing that every day he was in the hospital he was wishing he could be the support that Marissa and his family needed. He had wanted to be the strong one, the one who was there for them, and could visit them and bring them anything they needed. But his illness had other things in mind.
JR's smile grew as she asked if he really just said the cancer was in remission. He gave her a nod. "Yeah...I mean it's no promise it won't come back in the future, but after everything I've gone through....I never really thought this day would come" He told her truthfully, having believed the grim prognosis he was originally given.

JR tried to read her face as he offered for her to come live with him and AJ. He wondered if she would be open to it, or think he was moving too fast. He smiled again as she told him that she would love to stay with him. "I'm so happy that you will...AJ's going to love it too"

JR looked over towards the door when the nurse came in and moved out of the way as the nurse gave her the shots. He grinned slightly as she asked if he was the handsome young man Marissa had been worried about. "Well I guess you'll have to be the judge on if I'm handsome..." He joked "So she's been talking about me?" He said looking over at Marissa and seeing her blush.

"So she's been talking about me?"

The nurse nods her head and Marissa continues to set there with her cheeks turning a pretty shade of pink as the nurse begins to speak.

"Yes sir she has, she has been really worried about you... She even threatened to get out of bed to go and see you. *laughs* Needless to say we had to get her back into bed so that she wouldn't pull her stitches loose."

Marissa continues to blush as she looks over at the nurse and then over at JR. She clears her throat for a moment before she begins to speak.

"Nurse Hunter this is my boyfriend JR Chandler, JR this is Nurse Hunter she has been taking care of me since I was brought up here after surgery."

The nurse nods her head and finishes up the shots as she then gathers her stuff before she looks over at JR and gives him a smile as she begins to speak.


"You have a great lady there young man you better hang on to her..."

She gives them both a smile before she heads on out of the room and closes the door behind her leaving JR and Marissa all alone once more. Marissa reaches up with her uninjured hand and brushes her hair from her face before she begins to speak.

"I'm sorry about that, but she has been the only person I've had to talk to. She would bring me information about AJ, Dixie, Kathy and everyone else. But she could never get me much information on you, thats why I threatened to get out of bed and go see you... Granted I got to my feet and almost fell to the floor and probably would of if Jake hadnt of caught me. So right here in bed is where I've been every since."

She says those words in a soft voice while allowing her eyes to meet those smoldering blue eyes that has always held her mesmorized... But the spell is broken when the therapist comes into the room and smiles as he he speaks.

"Well good morning Miss Tasker are you ready for your therapy..."

Marissa looks over towards JR and gives him a smile before she nods her head and begins to speak while glancing over towards the therapist.

"Yes I am but can JR please stay with me during this..."

The therapist nods his head and gives Marissa a smile as he begins to speak.

"He sure can infact if you would like he can help with a little exercise. I know you havent been up out of that bed much. How about I help you to your feet and we can stand him over by the wall and you can get up and walk over to him how does that sound."

Marissa looks over towards JR and nods her head, she gives him a smile before she begins to speak while keeping her eyes locked on JR's.

"I like the sound of that, who knows if I make it over to him I might even get a hug or a kiss out of the deal."

She giggles abit as the therapist laughs as well, once he gets JR in position. He comes over and helps Marissa set up in bed, before helping her swing her legs off the bed. Marissa manages to slip on her slippers before she slowly stands up from the bed feeling extremly stiff from laying in the bed. She then looks over towards JR and gives him a smile before she begins to speak.

"Get ready cause here I come..."

She giggles softly as she takes a tentive step forward getting her sea legs back as some would say. She keeps her eyes trained on JR's as she makes her way towards him. It takes her a little bit since her legs are kind of weak from being in bed. But after a few minutes she reaches JR and feels his arms go around her waist. Marissa lays her head gently on his shoulder and breaths in his scent before she begins to speak in a soft voice.

"This feels ten times better then laying in that bed."

She says those words and lifts her head to give him a small smile before wrapping her free arm around his neck returning the hug and not really wanting to move from her spot.

[JR Chandler]

"Well I'm glad you were able to keep her here and force her to get the rest that she needed" JR said gratefully to the nurse as she explained about Marissa trying to get out of bed to come see him. JR smiled at Marissa as she introduced him and told him that this was the nurse who had been taking care of her since her surgery. "Nurse Hunter, you'll always have my gratitude for taking care of the woman I love when I couldn't"

He then nodded as the nurse told him to hang on to Marissa because she was a great lady. "Believe me, I plan to, as long as she'll have me"

JR waited for the nurse to leave before turning back to Marissa, listening to her explain about not being able to get much information on him. "I didn't want anyone to worry...things were bad for awhile, my immune system was completely shut down, they weren't sure I was going to pull through...I told them not to tell anyone how bad it was, everyone I loved was already injured and fighting for their own lives, I couldnt add that stress to them...I couldn't stress you anymore or else you would have pulled your stitches to come see me and you'd be in worse shape now" He explained to her before the therapist came in.

He wasn't sure at first if he would have to leave for her therapy but he was allowed to stay. JR got up and stood over by the wall where the therapist had instructed him to go while he waited for Marissa. As she reached him his arms immediately went around her, pulling her close. "Feels pretty good to me too" He whispered to her before giving her a light kiss, having been wanting to do that for weeks now.

As the kiss broke he looked up at the therapist "Do I really have to let her go now? "

"Do I really have to let her go now? "

The therapist looks over at him and gives him a small smile, she thinks about it for a moment before she begins to speak with a small smile.

"How about I give you two a couple of minutes, I got to run into the hall for a moment any way. It looks like you two need a happier moment then just a quick kiss anyway."

The therapist makes her way out and closes the door behind her. Marissa looks back at JR and gives him a smile while wrapping her arms around his neck. She allows her eyes to meet his blue ones as she begins to speak.

"Hmm she is right we do deserve a better moment then just a quick kiss before i have to finish up my therapy..."

With that said Marissa leans in and brushes her lips over his in a soft sweet kiss. It dosen't take long for the spark and attraction to wash over them as the kiss slowly heats up and continues between the two. A soft moan is heard from Marissa as she feels JR tighten his muscular arms around her waist while the feel good kiss continues. After a while the kiss slowly breaks and a blush creeps up on Marissa's cheeks before she speaks.

"You know theres plenty more of those kisses where that came from. You know we have a couple of weeks worth of kisses to make up for Mr Chandler."

She giggles when she says that and runs her fingers slowly over the back of his neck. But just as they are about to kiss once more the therapist comes back into the room as she begins to speak.

"I'm sorry but I'm back, Miss Tasker once we are done with your session. Your doctor will be in and I believe he will be allowing you to go home and I think some TLC from the people that loves you and cares about you is the best medicine you could ever ask for."

Marissa looks at JR for a moment and gives him a small smile, you could see it in her eyes how much she loves him. And she decides to let him know it as she leans in and whispers in his ear.

"I love you JR...."

She then pulls back and gives him a small smile before she steps out of the circle of his arms and heads slowly over to where the therapist is as she begins to speak.

"Alright lets get this over with I am so ready to go home and I agree the best medicine comes from the people you love."
