“Freeze!” Angie called holding up a gun. The person stopped running and turned around with their hands up. “I dare you… Shoot me.” they said egging her on. Angie’s hand shook as she dropped the gun and looked up.
“See why you couldn’t be a cop. You freeze to quickly. You get scared very fast.” Jesse said stepping up to her and picking up the plastic gun. He threw it on the counter and turned to his wife. “I told you, leave that up to me and you deal with the victims. Got it?”
“Fine Jesse… but I just wanted to show I am---”
“No you were trying to be big girl and use a gun. Now stop that and leave it.”
“Ok.” she said with a pout as she went over to the couch and plopped down. “Ok… What’s wrong?” Jesse said taking off his mask and opened finger gloves and walking over to the couch with Angie. “I was just trying to be bad girl before the party… It would look so crazy if we went as cop and inmate and I don’t know a thing about a gun. I guess I felt since I am wearing the costume I might as well do the whole thing.”
Jesse rolled his eyes, now regretting that he agreed to go to the Halloween party. Adam felt it would have been a good idea to do it at his place since his place was spooky and bigger than fusion. He had ran it by Angie, Angie ran it by Jesse and silly Jesse agreed. He even agreed to go as an inmate just so he could see his wife being a cop for a night. Sitting down he looked at her and took her hands. “How about we go as---”
“Mobsters wouldn’t work. I still need to be character Jesse!”
“Ok then… let’s pick something else.”
“I wanted to be a cop. That way if you were a bad boy I could lock you up and have my way with you.” She said seductively.
Jesse started laughing and shook his head. “Angie you can have your way with me anytime…”
“I wanted handcuffs!”
“You can have those too.”
“It isn’t the same… Anyway I have to go. I promised Natalia and Randi I would go with them to pick out what they are wearing. Seemingly Randi wants to make it a girls day out.” Angie stood up and kissed his cheek.
“What about Krystal?” Jesse asked standing up as well.
“She’s going too… She say she might go as a witch or something.” Angie picked up her purse, keys and cell before turning back to her husband. “I’ll call you.”
Jesse wrapped his arms around her waist and gave her a hump. “Well I will make sure when you call Frankie and Brot won’t be around.”
“Yea you do that. Love you honey.”
“Love you too.” Jesse and Angie kissed before he walked her to the door and closed it when she turned the corner. He ran to the back and went to get dressed before leaving and meeting up with the boys.
Angie meet up with the girls and they shopped for their costumes. Angie finally figured out what she was going to be. Nat even bought her and Brot’s costumes, they were both going as sexy vampires. Frankie and Randi were going as naughty cheerleader and he was going to be a football player. Krystal was going as a sexy witch. Everybody was stunned by Angie’s choice because of what she bought. It was an adult party so she went out. But of course they said it was inappropriate for her age and Angie told them, “I look just as young as you do.” she chimed as her and Krystal high-five and went to pay for their stuff.
It was now the day of the Halloween party and everything was going accordingly. Jesse knew what they were going as but he never saw Angie’s costume. Anyway Jesse walked out the bathroom and sat on the bed waiting for Angie. “Am I going to be able to see this outfit before you leave. If it’s too out there you are not walking out of this loft.”
“Jesse I told you it’s appropriate. Will you relax.”
“Not until I see this costume. The way Nat and Randi went on about you being the eye candy of the party, I demand to see this thing.”
“What if I told you to drop it and that I am walking out of here with or without your permission.” Angie said sitting on the other side of the bed and moisturizing her legs. She then reached for her bra and hooked it up.
“Angela! See your not going. If you have to wear a bra like that it means they will be able to see more of you. I don’t want nobody looking at what I come home to every night. That is my candy and mine alone.”

“Do I detect a hint of premeditated jealousy?” Angie asked standing up and bending to put on her fishnet stockings. “Also, I always wear bras like this. When have I ever worn just a regular bra. Tell me the last time I did that?” she said putting her hands on her hips and standing in front of Jesse with a black bra that pushed up the girls a little more. Also there was a small trinket right in the middle. She had on the fishnet hose and a pair silk boy shorts.
“The day we made love.”
“Be more specific.”
“The day I first came home and we made love.”
“Right and every since then I have been wearing these kinds of under clothes. Just for you.” Angie blew him a kiss and turned to the closet. “Now put on your suit coat and go in the living room. The kids should be here soon.”
“Angie I am serious if I don’t approve then you can forget it!”
Angie turned to face him again and swayed over to him. “Well if you don’t approve… The candy shop will be closed until further notice.” she said handing him his coat and walking away. Jesse sucked his teeth and put on his coat. He didn’t care if it showed to much she wasn’t leaving the loft and that was that. Sex be d**ned he didn’t want anybody staring at his wife. “I’m gone.”
“Please!” Angie called as the closed. “Sheesh!” she said going back to the closet and pulling out her outfit. Angie had her hair in a curled, updo, that left a few curls falling to the side of her face. She had little to no make-up on.
Back in the front, Jesse was in the kitchen getting a bottle of water, mumbling under his breath. Just as he was about to sit down somebody knocked at the door. “Why the hell!” he said standing straight up and going to the door. Jesse opened it and sighed.
“Trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat. If you don’t I don’t care----”
Jesse slammed the door closed before they could finish the song. They knocked again and said “We’ll pull down our underwear!” Frankie, Nat, Brot and Randi said in unison.
“And I’ll arrest you if you do!” he called. They opened the door and everybody came in. “You are suppose to give us candy pops.”
“That’s what Wal-Mart is for. You think I’m your candy man what.” He said looking at Nat and Randi. “Oh hell no! What is this? I want both of you to go home and change.”
“Dad what is your problem?” Nat asked looking at Brot who looked absolutely sexy in his wear. Just for effects he flashed his fangs and hissed. Nat and the rest laughed. “Never mind I know… Angie hasn’t showed him what she was wearing to the party and he is pissed about.” Randi said with a giggle.
Jesse looked up at her and sneered. “Oh you think you know everything.” he said crossing his arms.
“Oh come on dad… It can be that bad.” Frankie said as he and Brot sat at the counter. Nat and Randi snickered and turned away. Frankie looked over “Ok what are you too giggling about.”
“Nothing baby.” Randi chimed in.
They talked for at least 10 more minutes before they heard Angie clear her throat. They all looked her way and Jesse spilled his water on the couch. Brot’s eyes grew in size and Frankie’s water spewed on the counter. Jesse didn’t know whether to be mad, horny or just plain on grouchy.

“M…Ma where do you think you’re going?” Frankie asked finally speaking up.
“To the Halloween party silly.”
“No your not… You are not about to walk out of here in that.” he said going over and giving her his jacket.
Jesse stood up and fixed his jacket. “Move boy!” he barked pushing Frankie out the way. “Ok so I approve, but under one condition.”
“And what is that Mr. Hubbard?” Angie asked grabbing her purse off the counter. Jesse leaned down and whispered into her ear. She giggled and pulled in her bottom lip. “I think I could make that happen.” she replied turning to him. “It’s not too much… Really?”
“Angie it is just right…” Jesse said kissing her cheek.
“Good I just have to get the jacket that goes with it and we can leave.” Angie smiled before winking at Nat and Randi.
Brot still hadn’t blinked until Frankie popped him upside the head. “Hey!”
“Hey, is right. That is my mother!”
“I know that… I was just admiring the… The… The concept of the costume.” Brot said with a smile.
“Yea nobody believes that one bit.” Jesse said shaking his head.
Angie came back and her two piece smooth criminal costume consisted of…. A red shirt with a zipper front, black dress with red pinstripes, with attached suspenders and matching black tie. A black fedora, fishnet stockings and knee-high boots with a 4" heel and a 1" concealed platform and button details with inner zipper. The jacket she wore didn’t really come with it but it looked good with it and to her it completed the outfit.
Jesse wore something called a zoot suit. Black pants and jacket with red pinstripes, a red shirt like his wife, a black tie, belt and chain. He wore black patent leather shoes as well. Angie and Jesse knew they looked good and Angie’s body did put the youngins to shame. She was in her forties but to her age was nothing but a number and your maturity level. As far a body wise, Angie still had the body of a twenty something woman. Jesse didn’t fall short either because most men his age would have a beer belly. Jesse fit the twenty something bill as well.
Soon they were all out the loft with Jesse and Angie lingering behind. “Angie is the candy shop open?”
“Maybe… it all depends on how you act.” Angie replied.
About half an hour later they arrived at the Chandler Mansion. They gave their coats to the men at the door and went into the room. There were a lot of people already there, some dancing, other’s mingling and others at the buffet tables. Brot and Jesse saw some fellow officers and went to them. Frankie, Natalia and Randi went over to Amanda, Jake, Colby and Petey. Angie being the friendly person she was mingled with everybody. She was by the punch bowl when somebody tapped her shoulder.
“Angie.” they said.
Angie turned around and smiled at him. “Zach Slater… I didn’t think I would see you here.” Angie said as he pulled her into a hug. Jesse saw this and ended his conversation to go stand by Angie. “Hey Zach.” Jesse said shaking his hand and wrapping his arm protectively around Angie’s waist. Angie looked up at Jesse and smiled.
“Jesse… I was just telling your wife how good she looked. Never thought the doctor would wear something so bad.” Zach joked making Angie giggle. Jesse grumbled. “Well Angie I’m going to go mingle some more… Save me a dance?”
“You know it.” Angie said making Jesse mad once again. When Zach walked away Angie turned to Jesse and touched his chest. “See why I told you no guns… Now if you don’t mind I have more people to talk to. Oh… Before I forget, you aren’t behaving very well.” Angie picked up her cup and walked away, leaving Jesse to ponder what she just said.
The party was in full swing and everybody was having the time of their lives. Angie was dancing with Zach but they weren’t even close. Just dancing in front of each other. Jesse was becoming more and more jealous, she was laughing and smiling at whatever he said and it made him furious. Tad started laughing and shook his head. “Seriously you are becoming possessive.”
“Well I wonder if you would say the same thing if your wife was dancing with another man.”
“I don’t mind, it’s just a dance.”
“Really? Well as a matter of fact your wife is over there dancing with a certain David Hayward.” Jesse teased finishing his drink and turning when Frankie came to him.
Tad looked over and saw Dixie dancing with David. She was laughing and smiling, leading him to go over and stop it. “I need to speak with you.”
“Tad I’m in the middle of a dance.” She said
“Yea Taddy-kins… Back-off!” David spat. Tad took a deep breath before taking Dixie’s hand and pulling her away from the man.
Brot was dancing with Nat when he looked out the corner of his eye and saw something in the corner. Not wanting to cause a big stir he leaned down and whispered in Nat’s ear. “Somebody is here with a gun.”
“What! Where?” she asked going with the flow.
“In the corner… Just… Just be calm and don’t make too much of a scene.” he added before they parted like nothing was wrong and he slowly walked over to Jesse. Jesse was talking with Frankie when all of a sudden, before Brot could reach him, gunshots sounded off. It happened so fast!
Jesse saw the gun man or gun woman and dodged the bullets as he ran and wrestled them down. They fought for the gun until Jesse got the upper hand and threw it out their hands. Never the one to come unprepared, he took out his cuffs and cuffed them, reading them, their rights. The ruckus was big as people finally came up off the floor.
“OH MY GOD!!!!” Somebody cried. Jesse turned knowing that cry from anywhere.
“Somebody get an ambulance!” Somebody else yelled.
“We need more than one.” David called out as he kneeled beside her. David wiped out his phone and started calling the hospital running the incident them. He then got up and went to check on the other’s.
Jesse heard the voices but nothing prepared him for the sight he saw when he got back to the other side of the room. Jesse stopped dead cold and felt his heart just stopped! All the voices around him went thorough one heard and out the other.

Ok I have a feeling I know who got shot but then again I am not sure... Who got shot... How many people got shot? Who shot them? Why do you always leave people in suspense.

Hubbard’s were already out of there. Jesse put another cop on the job and went to be with his family. They waited in the waiting area, pacing, praying and for one lonely man just isolated. Jesse didn’t know what to do, nor did the rest of the family. One of his family members was hit with a bullet, in the chest. Biting the invisible nails, Jesse’s legs started shaking. He didn’t know what he would do if they lost her, she meant so much to them.
“Jesse.” Joe called coming down the hall with a chart.
Jesse jumped up and crossed his arms. “What’s happening?” he asked his eyes screaming with pure fear. Just by the way Joe looked at him and used that somber Within minutes there were paramedics running in and out the house. The tone.
“She has lost a lot of blood and at this point it doesn’t look to good. There was no bullet but the exit wound was in her back.”
“Ok so you need to do surgery… Why not go ahead and do it.”
“She is going to need a kidney transplant. As before she only one working kidney but now this one is out of commission.”
Frankie rubbed his wife’s back, as Jesse dropped his head and covered his face. “And you do not have a kidney.”
“Right.”
“No you have one… You have one right here. Take my kidney whatever you have to do to save her life.” he said ready to do whatever he had to do.
“Jesse it isn’t that easy.”
“I don’t give a damn! Take it! You can’t let her die.” Jesse barked before he realized what he said. Backing up he put his hands on his head and sighed. “I’m… I’m sorry…” Jesse turned and hit the wall. “How could I let this happen… I was suppose to be protecting them… Protecting her!” he cried. Frankie moved Randi to the side and went to comfort his dad.
“I know this isn’t easy but dad you have to calm down. That is the only way you are going to be able to think straight.”
“Frankie…. Your---”
“I know…. I know that! But we sit here and start punching up walls we’ll never be able to save her life!” Frankie barked back. “Just… Just take a deep breath and calm down.”
Jesse looked at his son and wondered why he showed no signs of fear. He couldn’t do it, for the simple fact he was afraid that he would lose her. That was something that wasn’t a choice to him. He promised that he would protect her to his dying day and now he failed. He broke her promise. “Son I could lose her…”
“You won’t… We won’t.”
“What… How come I couldn’t see this coming. The signs were all there and I just…. I didn’t read into them!”
“Dad it isn’t your fault. It isn’t anybody’s fault.”
“I… Joe I’m going to do it… Take my kidney and do whatever you have to do.” he said thinking rationally.
Joe nodded and he and Jesse left them. Jesse went down to get tested to make sure they were the same blood type. While they waited for the results Jesse was allowed to go see her. Slowly walking into the room, Jesse covered his mouth. Willing himself not cry just because of the sight. She looked so fragile, so pale, so not the woman he saw everyday. Slowly Jesse went to sit by her bedside and took her hand. “I am so sorry I let this happen… I’m… I couldn’t protect and for that I feel I have failed miserable. I’ve failed you and I deeply sorry.” Jesse cried kissing her hand. “I love you so much.” he said as a hand touched her shoulder. He didn’t have to look back.
“Dad I know she’s going to make it…. She’s too stubborn to go down without a fight.”
“Your right…” Jesse mumbled hoping his son was right.

“Randi where is Jesse?” Joe asked looking frantically.
“He… He was with you.” She said coming to her feet. “Is something wrong?”
“There is a problem.” Joe replied looking down at the chart and looking back up a Randi. “Find him!” he barked before running the other way.
Jesse was still holding her hand when Frankie walked out and somebody else walked in. They put their hands on his shoulder and with his free hand he reached up and took it. “What am I going to do?”
“You are going to keep the faith and think positive.” she said coming into his view and sitting next to him. “Nat is a strong girl and I know she is going to make it. This isn’t going to knock her down, not by a long shot.”
“But Angie it’s… I feel like…”
“You feel like you are in a movie… Jesse I know how this feels. I've been here... No it isn't easy, your baby hurting isn't a choice. But baby you have to have faith. You got that.” Angie squeezed his hand and reached up to brush some hair from Natalia’s face. “She is a very strong girl. She is your strong baby girl. You raised her to be that way, she's your stubborn daughter.”
Angie laid her head on Jesse’s shoulder and sat with him. Jesse looked at his wife and kissed her forehead. “How is your arm?”
“It’s fine baby… No main vein was hit and I will be fine.” Angie said as Jesse looked at her left shoulder. She had been grazed by a bullet that was going towards Annie. Nat saw the gun man or woman and had been shot trying to save Angie’s life, was hit in the chest. A few minutes later they heard somebody clear their throat and they turned to see Joe. “What’s wrong?” Angie asked standing up.
“We need to talk… Jesse you as well.” he said. Angie nodded and turned back to Jesse. She reached for him with her right hand and they walked out the room. Jesse had been so scared he was unable to actual ask questions.
The trio walked out the room and they went to a private waiting room. Frankie, Randi and Brot were waiting. Brot had been quiet every since they rushed her away from him. He felt his whole world crumble. “Take a seat.” Joe said closing the door behind them. Angie and Jesse took a seat and he looked up at her. “What’s going on?”
“We… The test we ran for the transplant… It shows us something that is pretty off in away. Nothing wrong that is life threatening but something that is going to possibly worry you.”
“Off how? Worry how!?” Jesse asked trying to keep his anger at a minimum.
“You both share the same blood type. DNA shows you two are father and daughter. But there was something that stunned us beyond belief.”
Angie took a deep breath, seeing the veins in Jesse forehead. “Joe what are you trying to tell us? Is… Is she pregnant… What?” Angie asked rubbing Jesse’s neck as he tried to breathe easy. Frankie was sitting by his father being his support when needed. Randi was by Brot holding his hand. Being his support.
“Angie…… Natalia Hubbard is your daughter.” he said closing the file.

Everybody looked to Angie, including Jesse. Frankie, Brot and Randi were looking at her shocked. Jesse was looking at her because he didn’t believe it. “How is that possible. Nat is 19!” Jesse said jumping up.
“Wait answer me… is she mine?”
“She is your daughter.” Joe said as he walked to the door. “I’m going to go and get her ready for the OR. Don’t be too long Jesse.” he said walking out.
Angie was biting on her nails, nervously. How could Natalia be her daughter, she only gave birth to one child and that was Frankie. Shaking her legs nervously she looked up at her family and sighed. “Jesse don’t look at me like that.”
“Something has to be wrong… Wrong with this test. How could she be your child.”
“Jesse! I don’t know!” she said feeling like she was backed into a corner. Jesse could see fear hiding behind those eyes, just the way she yelled at him. Angie jumped up and walked out the door in a hurry.
Jesse plopped down on the couch and buried his head in his hands. How could Natalia be Angie’s daughter, Rebecca gave birth to her. He was there. He was there for conception. Or was he? Frankie sat down by Jesse, “So Natalia is my sister… Not my step-sister.”
“Seems that way… Only I don’t know how in the hell that is possible. Angie said she had miscarriage and after she wasn’t able to have kids. I couldn’t have done it with her… So what the hell.”
Angie ran to the hospital roof and just watched the car’s go by. Watched the stars and the moon. “How could this be… I… I don’t remember anything happening.” she cried burying her head into her hands. Unknowingly to her somebody followed her out. “Mrs. Hubbard? Are you okay?” Brot asked, going over to the bench.
Angie looked up and forced a smile. “I… I guess honey… I’m… I’m not sure about anything anymore.”
“Can I join you?”
“Sure.” Angie moved over and looked back out into the sky. “How is Jesse doing?”
“They are getting him ready for surgery… Mrs. Hu---”
“Angie… Come on you’ve been apart of this family for awhile now, it’s about time you start calling me Angie.”
“I’m sorry.” he chuckled reaching over and taking her hand. “Jesse is pretty confused right now and I can tell you are the same…. But if you don’t mind me saying you aren’t going to find the answers up here. As nice and relaxing as this maybe you need to get to the bottom of this.”
“Brot how? I… I… This is all new to me. Weird, new, confusing… I can’t get to this bottom of this if I can’t find it in my heart to believe this.”
“DNA doesn’t lie.”
“I know.” Angie said softly. “I can trust you can I?”
“Of course you can.”
Angie laid her head on Brot’s shoulder and closed her eyes. “I’ve always felt a certain connection between me and Nat but I never really acknowledge them. I was so busy being pissed at Jesse for all his wrong doing I never took the time to sit and talk with her. Never asked about her family history. I never really took a long hard look at her… Now here I am… Lost, confused, and hurt because if Natalia is my…Daugh… daughter, I have missed out on 20years of her life. And if this doesn’t go right, I could lose her… Forever.”
“Angie we… We won’t lose her.” Brot assured still holding her hand. He too looked out at the stars. Over the past month they actually formed a bond. They would go out on dates, talk, and just get to know each other better. Some nights she would come to his apartment and they watch a movie. Talking and debating up until morning and falling asleep in each other’s arms. He had fallen for Natalia.
“How can you be so sure…”
“Because you have the best doctors working on her.”
“Brot I am a top notch doctor. People have died under my care.” Angie said picking her head up and looking at Brot. “How do I go on if something bad happens.”
“See key word is IF… Listen Angie, I have gotten to know Nat and she has showed me she is a fighter. She will fight this and she will beat it… You just have to have faith.”

Angie hadn’t had the sanity to go see Jesse before he went off to surgery. With a promise to Brot that she would be down soon, Angie stayed on the roof in deep thought. Angie looked at her arms and remembered she had on Jesse’s jacket. Also remembered the outfit she had on. Chuckling she sat back and crossed her legs. “Angie you sure know how to start a fashion trend.” she said with a smile. Closing her eyes she started to pray that she found the answers and found them soon. Not because of her marriage but because of her sanity.
About half an hour later she returned to find that Jesse and Natalia got off to surgery with nothing holding them back. Her mind in whirlpool, Angie decided to walk around. Just walk. She couldn’t see Frankie, Brot or Randi at the moment. Finally Angie ended up in her office, plopping down on the couch. Natalia couldn’t be her not by a long shot. Angie laid down and closed her eyes, trying to at least ease some of the pain in her head. Angie let sleep become her. She just couldn’t handle it.
Hours later, Jesse woke up to a beeping noise. Opening his eyes he took in the room and turned his head. “Where is your mother?” he asked making Frankie look up from his book.
“She needed a minute to herself.” he said knowing where his mother was. He knew because she would only be in one place that allowed her to think and be alone. He went to check on her and give her a change of clothes, Randi went to get from the loft, before they brought his father and sister out of surgery. “How are you feeling?”
“Like somebody hit me in my stomach with a bowling ball.” Jesse said trying to sit up. Frankie jumped up and eased him back. “No sir, no moving right now. You need to relax.” he said reaching him the water Jesse was trying to get. Jesse took a sip through the straw and started chuckling. “You know I had the strangest dream. Whatever this is in this bag, it’s on hell of a drug.”
“It’s call the wonder drug.” Frankie said with a chuckle setting the cup back on the table. “What was your dream about?”
“Natalia being Angie’s daughter. Wouldn’t that be something.” Jesse laughed before hissing from the pain. “Oh! Is it suppose to feel like that.”
“I wouldn’t know. I never had to do a kidney donation.”
Jesse nodded and went on to telling Frankie about his dream. “Anyway a doctor came in and said your mother was Natalia’s mother. How crazy is that?” Frankie chuckled nervously, “Yea how crazy… How crazy would that be.”
Angie shot up from a dream. A dream that went so far back into the past it killed her to even think about it. Jumping up Angie saw a change of clothes on her desk and quickly changed. She left her costume on the floor and ran out. She ran until she hit the staircase, not wasting anytime she put her little legs to work. Not long after she ended up in the room that held all the past records. Even the records from 20years ago. She looked at the boxes until she came across the section that held files from 1988. She went through all boxes that were dated after Jesse’s death. “I was three months pregnant when Jesse died.” she said to herself. “I lost my baby a month after he died.” Angie said as she went through the box that held July 1988 files. She looked for her folder and nothing. No file saying she lost the baby. She went back a month and still nothing. Angie searched every box, every month, week, day until… … … … “How could this be?” she asked herself as she sat in the middle of the floor looking at the file. Angie stared for what seemed forever. Nothing came to her mind until she looked down a little further. The memory came back fresh and very vivid, every detail.
Not believing what laid in front of her, Angie pushed her hair back and sighed. “She’s… She’s… Oh My God!” she cried before she jumped up, taking the file and running out the room. She ran back up to the recovery unit and ran into Natalia’s room. Nobody was around so she had it to herself. Putting the file on the table she went over to Natalia’s side.
“Your… You’re here… How… My baby…” she cried as her hands began to shake. Angie reached for Natalia’s hand and kissed it. “I… I never thought I… I can’t believe… I let you… My baby!” Angie cried harder.

Angie stood up and sat on the edge of the bed. “I… I don’t know what to say… To do… I’m just lost… I… Oh my god…” she cried, excited, afraid and confused all at the same time.
Unknowingly to Angela, her whole family including Brot was outside the door. Jesse had finally convinced Frankie to let him go see Nat and once they brought them a wheelchair they were out of there. They had just opened the door when Angie started crying and saying my baby. Not sure what to make of it, Jesse looked up to Frankie was to was stunned speechless. Randi and Brot looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders. Because they were family, Frankie and Jesse went in first. “Is there something your not telling me?” Jesse asked.
Angie heard that voice and froze up like ice. She didn’t turn, she didn’t answer, she kept her eyes on Natalia. Her daughter. Jesse started biting on his lip, had he not been in pain he and Angie would be having it out. Then again, no pain, no gain. “Angela Marie Hubbard!” he barked making everybody jump.
“Yes.” Angie answered still looking forward. “Is there something you’re not telling me!?” he asked again. Angie finally turned and looked Jesse in the face. “I… She’s… Yes…” she answered looking from Jesse to Franklin.
“But how Angela?” Jesse asked.
“Every since you…”
“How long have you knew?” Jesse asked. Angie shook her head feeling like a little kid for sure. “Can I explain myself? Please.” she begged. Jesse gave her the floor and her son, Brot and Randi took a seat. “Go ahead.”
“I… First off let me start by telling you something. Only one person here knows about it and he has kept it a secret. I… I have been going to a therapist since December… After Rebecca came into our lives I just couldn’t find my way. I felt I lost my self in the process. Anyway I went three days a week and each time I went I had somewhat of a breakthrough. But there was one thing we couldn’t break. There was memory of my past that was locked away and I chose to lock it away because of my heart and my mind. She asked me about it and I told her I couldn’t. Then she asked about Natalia and I told her I felt a connection with her. I felt like I knew her since she was born and she kept telling me to dig deeper into and for the longest time I couldn’t. She asked about the miscarriage and asked me if it really happened…”
“And what did you say?” Jesse asked massaging his temples. Angie braided her fingers and began to pace the room. “I told her I wasn’t sure. Maybe it did, maybe it didn’t. “
“Did it happen or didn’t it happen?” Jesse asked wanting to get to the point. “Simple question.”
“Dad!” Frankie chastised. Angie turned to Jesse and shook her head. “That’s not fair Jesse… I never questioned you like that. Why are you turning it on me?” she asked feeling like crap because of Jesse.
Angie sat in the chair by Natalia’s bed and took her hand. “My past medical records shows I had a baby…”
Frankie stood up and went over to his mother’s side. He kneeled in front of her and took his hands. “You still aren’t sure. You can’t remember. Can you?” he asked looking deep into her eyes. Angie shook her head no and started crying. She said my baby, my baby but once again, Angie was unsure. The picture was there but for some reason she couldn’t accept it. DNA don’t lie and she still couldn’t accept it. Jesse started feeling bad that he yelled at her. He hated seeing his wife hurt, especially when he had something to do with it. Brot pushed him over to Angie and Jesse rubbed her back.
“Momma…”

Angie looked over at Natalia, and saw her reaching for her. She stood up and went over, nervously. “Natalia.” she said standing by her bedside. Jesse came up on the side of her and took her hand. “How are you feeling, baby?” he asked.
“What… Angie are you ok?” she asked looking at her mostly. Angie touched her hand as well, “I… I’m fine honey… How are you feeling?”
“I… I…” Nat cringed a little and shook her head when Frankie ran over to assist her. “I thought I wasn’t going to be able to save you.”
“What do you mean?” Angie asked now sitting on the edge of the bed. Natalia sighed and tears started rolling down her cheek. “I… When I saw her point the gun towards you and Zach… I thought I wasn’t going to get over fast enough. I couldn’t… Couldn’t let you get shot.”
Angie held her heart and kissed Natalia’s forehead. “I am fine… Right now we are concerned about you. Were you dreaming about your mother?” she asked as Jesse put his free hand on the small of her back. Natalia shook her head no and started coughing. “Brot get that water. Randi go get a doctor.” Angie ordered as she turned the monitor her way.
“No… I was calling for you… I thought you were hit.” she said turning down the water. “Natalia you said momma…” Jesse chimed in. “I… Know… I couldn’t let my mother die…” she replied looking to Angie again. She then reached for Angie’s hand and held it. “I’ve known since August.” she whispered.
Angie took the cup from Brot and put the straw to Natalia’s lips. “Drink this baby… You need to be hydrated.”
Jesse looked up at Frankie who was walking to the bed and taking a seat. “Natalia what are you talking about?” he asked pretending not to know.
“I’m Angie’s daughter… Reb… Rebecca adopted me.” she said.
Angie stood up and backed up to the door. It was her. The baby she gave up for adoption. The baby she couldn’t look at after she was born. Holding her heart, Angie turned and ran out the door. There was no more being in denial Natalia cleared it right up for her. Randi and the doctor saw her sprint out of the recovery wing and to the emergency stair case. Next Frankie came running out and followed the same steps. Jesse was just there, he didn’t know what to say or do. Still holding Natalia’s hand he gave her a small smile. “You’re going to be ok.”
“Don’t be mad.”
“I’m not mad… I’m just concerned.”
Frankie followed his mother as she exited the back door of the hospital and just broke down crying. She then started falling but Frankie caught her before she could. Angie turned her head into his chest and cried. “it’s ok ma…”
“No it’s not… My baby is home and I couldn’t… I couldn’t even see it…” she choked out.
“Ma tell me.” Frankie said pulling back and raising her head to eye level.
“I never had a miscarriage. I carried the baby full term and had her right before Christmas.”
“But you said you have a miscarriage.”
“I only said it and made myself believe it because I couldn’t love her… I saw too much of Jesse in her and I just couldn’t deal with it. I… I gave her up for adoption… I couldn‘t love her Frankie… What kind of mother does that!”
“But…”
