“Oh,” Kathy replied quietly as Dixie informed her that the necklace wasn’t hers, and it made her wonder more on whose it could be. Settling in closer against Dixie, she tried to stop herself from shivering in the cold, but it was no use, she was already frozen from the water she’d been in and now with the cold air, she wasn’t going to stop. The sound of footsteps had her glancing about until a vaguely familiar face came into focus and started talking with the woman who held her.
As Di and Dixie hugged each other and spoke, Kathy remained quiet, still snug in her moms jacket, only the warmth was quickly evaporating from the cold air that was sweeping down. Her wet hair was turning to ice and it only made things worse. When she felt something go around her head and ear she gasped and winced a little as the hat went over the cut Dixie had cleaned. Looking up into Di’s face she immediately recognized her from Wildwind.
“Y-You’re A-Aunt Ju-Julia’s friend,” she whispered as Di, allowing herself to be picked up. She was glad they were going to find somewhere warm for everyone to be, being out here was just too cold, but where could they go? Was there a house near here? Putting her head gently on Di’s shoulder, she looked over at Dixie. “W-where’s T-Tad? I-Is he here t-too?” Glancing around at their surrounding area she tried to make out if she could see him, but she couldn’t. Snow was beginning to white out areas in the distance and it was only a matter of time before it would reach them.

Madison looked away from the water and into a pair of comforting yet fearful brown eyes. She then let her eyes trail down to his lips and it was then her mind clicked and she realized he was not only speaking but speaking to her. “Huh?” She mumbled, looking back up into his eyes. When he repeated himself she nodded. “Yes… I hear you,” she finally got out and closed her eyes to ward off the throbbing ache she was feeling in her head and bout of nausea that suddenly hit her.
Adrian came around and stood in front of them. “Are you okay?” Madison nodded and immediately after wished she hadn’t. “I… I guess… I fe—feel out of place.” A shudder tore through her body. “Come on we have to move so the people can find us,” Adrian spoke up seeing everybody starting to get up.

Hearing Colby attempt her joke brought a bit of a smile to his face along with a shake of his head. But there was no time for jokes right now, nor for being slowed down. "Oh I am sure you'll be just fine Colby, but hang on just a second." Just moments after Jamie said that, Colby was hoisted up in his arms as there was no way he was making her walk in her condition.... Think of it as adrenaline taking over.
"We all just need to stay strong, we can't let the storm get the best of us. Once we get to some kind of shelter, we can begin to tend to one another the best we can while we wait on help." Jamie who had bleeding cuts and bruises of his own, spoke once again knowing the kids have to get to shelter first.
"Mom, Marissa and anyone else with a youngster come to the front of the group, when we find shelter, they will be the first ones that will need some kind of warmth for their young bodies." He knew not everyone could walk, let alone have the energy left to do so. But he knew parents also would do anything for their children.

Hearing those words Marissa slowly makes her way to her feet.. With her good hand she takes AJ's hand in hers and slowly makes her way to the front of the group along with the others. Marissa looks down at AJ and gives him a small smile knowing she needs to stay strong for him even though her whole body was stiff and racked with pain. After a moment she clears her throat as she begins to speak in a soft voice.
"Did you hear that AJ, were going to find shelter soon and then we can all get warm and out of the snow."
AJ looks up at her and slightly nods his head, he gently squeezes her hand before he begins to speak with the most pitiful expression on his little face.
"That sounds good but when is daddy coming to get us mommy... You were talking to him on the phone how come they haven't come to get us yet..."
Marissa looks down at him and before she can say anything AJ wraps his arms around her waist and burries his face again her side. She places her good arm around him and she soon feels his tiny body shake as he begins to speak.
"I want my daddy if he had of been with us none of this would of happened. *sniffs*
Marissa sighs abit before she kneels down and allows AJ to wrap his arms around her her neck. She sighs abit and slowly stands up with AJ in her arms. Her wraps his legs around her waist and burries his face against her neck as she begins to speak in a soft voice.
"I know hun I want your daddy too and I'm sure he will find us soon... But right now we just need to hang on a little while longer and find some shelter. Then we can get warm and if anyone still has there cell phones maybe we can see if we can get some form of signal or something hun that way they can track us."
Marissa says those words and places a kiss on AJs cheek.. It must be adrenaline because she keeps him in her arms while awaiting the group to make a decision on where there going to go next.

Colby refused to miss the smile that came to Jamie’s face but it disappeared soon enough after a shake of his head. He spoke again then did something completely unexpected. He swept the young blonde into his arms so she wouldn’t have to walk, especially not in her condition. She didn’t know what to think of it, probably adrenaline taking over. “Thank you, Dr. Martin,” she said with another smile aimed specifically at him.
He continued to hold Colby as he spoke to the rest of the group. He was going to be handy to have around when the situation…no, Colby, stop it. He’s probably still holding on to Babe, and JR would be quite unhappy if he found out. Colby then turned her head when her brother’s fiancé began to speak. It made Colby tear up a bit when her nephew also spoke. “Hey, A.J., everything is going to be okay, don’t you worry, buddy,” Colby said to him from her spot in Jamie’s arms.

Bending down to scoop Kathy up, Di thought she heard her niece mention Julia. Looking to Dixie who was nodding nervously, her suspicion was confirmed. Why Kathy was bringing up her late friend she wasn't sure. But decided from the look on Dixie's face alone she should just go with it. "Yeah sweetie, y...you're right.", she smiled softly. Moving towards the front of the group per Jamie's instructions, she saw Kathy looking back towards Dixie and wondered if she wanted to be with her mom instead. But then she heard Kathy call Tad, Tad and jaw hanging, decided Kathy being with Dixie wasn't a good idea right now. The way the girl was speaking it felt like they'd jumped back in time about five years. And it left her more scared than anything. But for her own sake she decided not to read too much into it. It was cold, Kathy was exhausted and so was she. Hopefully once they found shelter, built a fire, things would settle down. Walking she heard Colby speaking to A.J but wasn't paying much attention. All her energy was directed at finding someplace where they could find warmth and hopefully rest. Looking back towards Frankie who was limping back with Dixie and Madison, she could tell he had the same plan in mind. Surprisingly though it wasn't any of the adults but Adrian walking up front who first spotted something. "Hey! LOOK!" "Adrian wh..what is it?", Frankie called from the back of the group. "Looks like a cave! Over there!", the boy pointed, running to the front of the group in the general direction of the rock formation. He was anxious to run the rest of the way and explore it but knew he had to wait for the others adults to see if it was okay.

“Y-You brought m-me the toys on n-new years with A-Aiden,” Kathy remembered aloud when Di confirmed who she was. With her head still resting against Di’s shoulder she looked to Dixie, her question about Tad seeming to make her confused, and that worried Kathy. What had happened? Was he okay? Squirming a little in Di’s arms she went to ask Dixie again but was cut off by the sound of others talking and her train of thought was lost, any idea of what she was going to say was gone.
“It s-so c-c-cold,” she whispered, teeth chattering fiercely. There was a shout a little further ahead and she glanced in the direction of where they were pointing, but her world spun and her head ached as it moved. Trying to relax and get warm she closed her eyes and allowed the darkness swallow her up as her breathing became shallow.

"Yeah..that's right Kathy, I did." Di answered warily, growing increasingly worried about her niece as they walked. And her fear amplified when Kathy muttered about the cold and shut her eyes. "I know honey, I know. But look you gotta stay awake for me, okay? Don't go to sleep. We're almost to the cave, see!" Speaking as encouragingly as she could, she jostled Kathy ever so slightly in her arms just to keep her from dozing off.
In the meantime Frankie painstakingly limped towards the front of the group to examine the cave. It looked suitable and uninhabited by creatures, and it was on the bigger side so everyone could fit comfortably. To his relief it wasn't very damp despite the weather, and there was some brush and wood inside of it. Likely left by someone else that had built a fire there. "Alright guys c'mon...this should work for a shelter til we get some help." As the group moved closer, he saw Madison moving along with Adrian's help, and Jamie and Marissa assisting Colby and A.J. Lily seemed to be holding her own, walking near Di who was up front with a clearly shivering Kathy. "When someone gets the fire started make sure she's close. Same with you and Lily and Madison..you all need the warmth." "Yeah, w..what about you though Dr. Hubbard? You were in that w..water too." reminded Di. "Look take care of yourselves and the kids, alright? I..I'll be fine." Taking Frankie's instructions, too tired to fight him on any of them, Di brought Kathy over to the cave where most of the others were starting to get situated. But she didn't see her sister and worry set in. "Dix..Dixie?"
Hearing Di's voice, Frankie turned and spotted the older blond a good ways back. Immediately worry set in and with clenched teeth, he hobbled back in her direction. By the time he reached her he saw she was barely standing, half leaning against a tree. "Dixie..Dix what is it? What's wrong?" "Fr..Frankie, I..I can't.." "Shh, shh, just take it easy. Easy." Nervously looking on, worry set in when Dixie's hand went to her chest. She was having trouble breathing and even in the dark she looked weak and pale. "S..something i..isn't r..right, I..I can't.." "Shh, Dixie you gotta relax, okay. Look I'm here and Jamie's here..we'll take care of you. Where does it hurt.." Seeing her point to her stomach, then her chest, Frankie tried to hide his nerves. But he knew this woman had a bad heart. She had a memorial plaque in the cardiac wing of PVH from the first of her supposed "deaths". Putting an arm around her to keep her steady she was shaky and chilled. And while he wanted to blame that entirely on the weather and situation, he couldn't rule out her being cold for another reason. "I..I'm so sca.." "I know..I know.", nodded Frankie. He didn't need to hear her say it, her fear was written all over her face. "But listen we'll get you over to the cave, get you situated..and we'll get you and everyone some help, okay. Just stay calm for me, stay calm for Kathy. Can you do that?" Getting a nod Frankie took that as his cue, and let the small blond lean against him on the walk to the cave. Hoping that by the time he arrived a fire would be started up. The snow was getting worse and the wind was just gonna get colder.

Kathy felt the small jostle and opened her eyes tiredly looking around the area they were in. She glanced in the direction the cave was in but it was hard when her eyelids kept drooping down and the pull of darkness was lurking there once more. When Frankie spoke up she tried very hard to focus on his words but her head came down against Di’s shoulder again and she allowed her eyes to close. While Di was speaking with Frankie the vibrations and tone kept awakening her until she heard the worry in the woman’s voice.
“Is s-she o-okay?” she asked Di through chattering teeth as Frankie left to go retrieve her mom. Putting her head back down, she silently wished that her Aunt Julia was here to fix everyone; she could always make everything better. “C-Can we hel-help her?” Watching Di carefully as she answered, Kathy glanced around to the other shivering and cold souls that were amongst them, faces she should have remembered but wasn’t.

While waiting on the rescue teams to find them, Colby looked at Jamie with a serious face. “Jamie, in case you haven’t noticed, I’ve found myself nervous around you. You are handsome, you have a medical license, but I don’t want to cause conflict in front of JR, because he is the brother we share,” she got out finally before continuing, placing a gentle finger on his lips when he looked like he wanted to speak. “No, please let me finish. I want you to do something for me when we get rescued and taken to the hospital. I want you to be the one to ask me on a date, a proper date, because if I ask then it will turn out pretty awkward.”
She laughed on that last part, proud of her effort to get how she felt about him off her chest – finally. “Just promise me that, and we’re even.”

Jamie was shocked to hear everything that she just said. He didn't know that she liked him, but he knew he had some feelings for her. "I.. I am not sure what to say, you just kind of caught me off guard."
He said in a bit of a stutter and unsureness in his voice. When his mind finally wraps around it all, he smiles a bit and gently nods his head. "I'd be glad to ask you on a date, just as long as you one.. Hang in there and stay strong til help comes, and two.. you don't wait til we almost die before you admit your feelings again."

“You didn’t have to say anything, Jamie, it’s okay,” Colby replied. His voice had come in a bit of a stutter and filled with being unsure. She nodded at his next words. “Of course.” She shivered a bit, keeping her hand intertwined with his. “I promise to dazzle you when it finally does happen for us.”

Meanwhile Marissa had AJ setting between her legs, her good arm was wrapped around him and she was doing everything she could to keep him warm. She knew if anything happened to AJ that JR would take it extremly hard. She didnt care what happened to her she just wanted to make sure AJ came out of this alright. Despite the tiredness that was threatening to consume her cold, sore, achy body, she takes a deep breath as AJ begins to speak in a low voice.
"Momma do you think Daddy will find us soon, I'm cold and I know your cold and I just want daddy to come and find us and take us both home. Daddy will get us both warm and make you feel much better momma..."
Marissa hearing him say those words kind of smiles abit while thinking if it was only that easy. One kiss from JR and all of this would just go away, but she knew it wasnt that simple. She knew that her arm would probably need surgery, and she knew she had a long hard road ahead of her for recovery. Marissa uses her good hand and rubs her fingers slowly up over AJ's arm before she begins to speak.
"It's alright hun, I'm sure everyone is out looking for us right now... And before we know it, your daddy will be here and wrap us in his arms and take us all home where we belong. I bet your daddy is so worried about us, I just hope he is ok as well...."
Marissa says those words before she rests her cheek against the top of his head. She closes her eyes and slowly sways from side to side while holding on to AJ. She soon begins to hum a little lullaby, the same lullaby that her adopted mother use to sing to her. She keeps her eyes closed and even sends a silent prayer up to the lord up above that they would all get found soon. To be honest she didnt know how much longer she could fight the cold and the sleepiness.

When Frankie got into the cave, to his relief he saw that Di had gotten a fire started and was gathering the people who'd been in the water around it. Everyone had to get warm but those folks needed it the most. "Frankie! You okay?", called Adrian who was keeping a watchful eye on Madison. "Yeah..man, I..I'm fine.", Frankie answered through clenched teeth. His ankle hurt like hell but there was no way he'd let on about it. He'd been through worse.
In the meantime Di spotted Dixie and went tense. Her sister looked pale and shaky and like she was in trouble. "Kath I don't..", trailing off she noticed Frankie getting Dixie situated on the other side of the fire. Even seated across the way she could tell things weren't all alright, and knew she had to get an update or she'd go crazy. "Look babe, just stay here with Marissa and A.J. I..I'll go and see what we can do for her. Okay?" Slowly Di got up and walked towards where Frankie and Dixie were, trying to hide her nerves. "Dix? You okay?", she asked softly.
Trying to hide her nerves just as much, Dixie tried to get the focus off her and on her daughter. She was scared for herself but terrified over her little girl and the fact she wasn't sitting with her right now. "K..Kathy..how..how's Kathy?" "She's sitting with Marissa and A.J. But she's asking about you!"
Sighing Frankie shook his head as he did his best to figure out what was going on with Dixie. The difficulty breathing and the chest pain pointed towards heart trouble. And if that was the case he knew the last thing she needed was stress. He just didn't know if her seeing Kathy would alleviate or amplify it. "I..I want, her here." "But Dixie if you're.."
Tearfully, stubbornly, Dixie shook her head. "I want...to..see..my daughter." "Okay..okay Dix just relax, okay. Just relax.", Frankie coached, as Di went over by where Kathy was sitting. "Hey sweetie. Listen Frankie says it might make her feel better if we sit over on the other side of the fire with her. You up for that?", she asked. Not wanting Kathy to be up and moving if she wasn't up for it.

Kathy stared blankly at the fire for a moment, putting her little hands out so they could get warm from the heat. She could feel some of the warmth reaching her exposed skin but her feet were still drenched in ice water and her hair was beginning to get wet as the ice melted in it. When Di answered her question about helping Dixie and broke off midsentence Kathy looked up at her worriedly before nodding a little.
“Okay,” she whispered trying to get comfortable on the stone floor of the cave. Sitting cross legged proved to be uncomfortable in her sloshy wet boots and she tugged one off along with her sock and dumped the water onto the floor. Her exposed foot was blue and wrinkly and Kathy knew she wasn’t going to get her socks back on, so removing both boot and sock from the other foot she gently placed them by the fire before slipping her boots back on. Hearing Di return to her after a little while, she held up one sock for her to see.
“M-My socks and b-boots are w-wet,” she explained miserably with a pout, eyes travelling back down to the sock which she placed beside the other. “W-was I sw-swimming?” She was shaking like a leaf again but tried to focus when Di started talking about being with Dixie, and Kathy glanced over at her for a moment before back at Di.
“Y-Yes,” she agreed with a tiny nod and a wince, her hand coming up to press against the cut on her head. “B-But I don’t have an-any bandaids to help her with her c-cuts. Is th-that okay? A-Aunt Ju-Julia has them at Wildwind.” She put her arms up and struggled to her feet, getting dizzy from the movement and almost falling over, but managed to steady herself and make her wobbly way to Dixie. The second she was by her moms side she sat down and looked up at her. “D-Don’t worry I-I’m here to m-make you better, u-until Tad and A-Aunt Julia gets here.” She carefully put her head on Dixie’s arm, her eyes closing with tiredness.
